Hello everyone.

I'm getting a Memor32 from a friend and have some questions about it.

1. Does this work on all slim models?
2. Do I need an exploit game, or does this work right out of the box?
3. How is the USB backup loading and can I safely use the HDD I use for my PC and Wii, or does it have to be formatted for PS2 use?
4. Is it possible to play USB backup PS1 games?

Thanks in advance :)

Yes, except the 90k iirc (I'm not sure but eh)
Nope, works straight away.
It only loads DVD backups, USB loading works with FMCB.
No.

I'd say, install FMCB with it.
Then take advantage of SMB loading.
It's much faster then USB.

I bought my PS2 slim somewhere in 2005 or 2006.
SMB, is like over the network?

SMB is over network yes.
You basically share the folder of games on your PC and point OPL on your PS2 (once you installed FMCB) to that path.
It's quite easy to do once you got FMCB on it.

As for your PS2.
No clue, All I know that on the bottom, there's some serial.

are you talking about the memory card with the usb port? i have one!

don't use the firmware (memento) on it, use FMCB
the memento had terrible compatibilty, there were 2 firmwares (1.1 and 1.2) almost no homebrew worked, or the ones that launched, did not work properly
each firmware had it's own compatibilty it was promissed new firmware updates (i think there was almost a 1.3) but the team and website shortly died...

install FMCB
the card is a great tool if you want to backup saves and manage them. it does what it promises. loads of storage and save import\export etc..
you need special drivers and special program, i can't confirm it works on windows 10, but does work on windows 7

for answers to your questions
1: i had a slim, there was a compatibilty list, like dinoh said probably not compatible with the 90k
2: the card is a normal memory card (with 32 mb and an extra port) so it works out of the box.. if you want to use memento (which i really don't recommend) you just have to flash memento to the card using the tools.. if you want to install FMCB, you need an exploit to install FMCB, like disc exploit or another FMCB card...
you can also use memento to install FMBC to another ps2 memory card and then format memor32 and install FMCB on it (however you can't have both memento and FMCB in the same memor32) there is a tutorial for this

can't answer the 2 follow up questions because i just used ps2 burned discs when the ps2 was working

I don't know at all, he still has to bring the card and I only know the name is Memor32.
I don't know what's on it, but I will stick it in my PS2 and see what happens.
If a game is needed, will Battlefield 2: Modern Combat work? I don't have any other exploit game, but the most common game is Agent Under Fire, which is a Gamecube disc for me.

you need an original ps2 disc it doesn't work with gamecube or other system discs

do you have other ps2 memory card?
for FMCB you can use the memor32 with memento to launch the FMCB installer and install it on other ps2 card

ask your friend if the memor32 does have memento or Free MC Boot. if your friend did the right thing and installed FMCB in it, then its just plug and play
if the card has memento (the memor32 shitty launcher) i really suggest to install FMCB, you can keep the memento but i had it and it was awfull

if you have other ps2 card, you can move all the saves to memor32 (if you want to keep the saves)
and then connect memor32 to the pc and backup the saves so you don't loose them..
IIRC you will need to format the cards...

Ok, thanks.
Let's see what it brings tomorrow.

EDIT: Found something, and Battlefield 2 is in there :D

It says a good place to start: http://freemcboot.psx-scene.com/ < Is it down for anyone else? If so, is there a good tutorial elsewhere? YouTube just shows 8 really crap unwatchable 144p videos showing the Memor32 menu only lmao

P.S. My PS2 slim is SCPH-70004 PAL version.

there was a good tutorial at skappz but it seems dead now... not sure if forever... :(
in fact, skapps was a great source of tools and tutorials for the ps2 :(

anyway, if websites are dead i will try to guide you, just get the card first :D
do you have a mini B usb cable? the memor32 has one

but like i said, if you have another ps2 memory card you can do it without using a game exploit

Yes, I have another PS2 Memory Card. A 3rd party 32MB one, with the saves I want to keep.
Thanks for the willing to help :)
You'll hear more tomorrow when I get Memor32 :)

then you most likely can use that card.
like i said earlier you can copy\move the saves to memor32 and then backup them to the PC so you will not loose them :D you will need the mini b cable and install the save manager on pc

Noob question:

I have been looking for a while for an easy method to back-up my original PSX and PS2 memory cards to PC, convert them and use them in PSX/PS2 emulators.
Would this be the way to go for me?
It seems like I could easily transfer my original save files to this device and back them up on PC, is this true for both PSX and PS2 save files, or am I misunderstanding??

Alright, just got the Memor32 Card.
It already has FreeMCBoot on it!
It only loads without a disc, which is no problem, since I'll use the SMB method.

Going to find out. I'll post here when I have questions.

Setting up SMB isn't that hard.
Just google "SMB share PS2 FMCB" and you'll get plenty of results
from what i had seen, it's just using windows file sharing right?
do you actually need to change ip's or give a fixed ip? most of our pc setups use dhcp...

I just setup SMB on my PC. I don't know if it works yet as I just installed OpenPS2Loader on my card and have yet to figure it out.
I already have an iso on my HDD, but what name must the ISO be?
