Depends what you are selling. Amazon still delineates between selling things which they also sell and any old item you like ( https://services.amazon.fr/services...rche-pro.html?ref=azfrsoafoo&ld=AZFRSOAFooter ). I also already mentioned amazon is probably not the place to go to sell a broken screen laptop and things like it.
For some things some people would likely not go looking on Amazon and thus not as much traffic. On the other hand Amazon's UI is a bit nicer and I find many people do click and see what each is offering it for lest they get stung by low price, high shipping. If for instance I had a collection of games to sell individually and I did not care how long it took I would probably pick amazon as you can set prices and get some reasonable descriptions going on.
Though I am sure there are people at Amazon and Ebay that want everybody to get along and have a good time I would still say both take some perverse enjoyment from screwing everybody over. Ebay might just have the edge in some regards but neither are great.
Costs. Neither are cheap as these things go, compared to trying to flog them on facebook or forums like this or something, and I can't be bothered to work it all up. They know they are competing with each other though and play it accordingly.
Chances are you want to use ebay unless you are a professional shop or have some time to wait for the limited selection for Amazon free to sell what you have, assuming you want so much real money for it and don't just want to get shot of things.
