Hey everyone. So, I'm pretty new to the whole 3ds hacking scene, but I have made some progress. I managed to get Homebrew Launcher setup (which was fun! I loved scanned 15 QR codes twice.). I want to use JKSM next to dump a save from Bravely Second (to do some HEX editing). I haven't been able to get it to work though and I hoping to spell out what and I did and hopefully someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

1. I'm running 11.1.0.34U on an old N3DS XL.
2. I'm not setup for .cia so I downloaded the JKSM_3DSX files. I unzipped and put the JKSM folder in the 3ds folder on my SD card.
3. I went into Homebrew Launcher (using cubicninja on Sky3ds+).
4. I selected JKSM from the list.
5. I popped out the Sky3DS+ and inserted Bravely Second. I selected it as the "Target Title".
5. It flashes some colours and eventually freezes at a yellow screen (bottom) and static (top).
6. I checked the SD card and there's nothing dumped on it.

So, what am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

noob question: What's the difference between this and SaveDataFiler?

This is a homebrew app and SDF is Nintendo's own app which is illegal to share on here bc copyrighted material but it's something which does similar but removed from the console at factory point

Well, I had to sacrifice my custom HBL, but it works. Thx!

You didn't have to lose your HBL, you could just rename that boot.3dsx to whatever and put it in a matching folder in the "3ds" folder on your SD card and it will work normally, leaving the mmap file on the root.

That I did not know. So i can use GameYob to make cheat tables, add what I want, then simply reinject without it ever leaving my console?
I'm not familiar with how GameYob works (I just use BGB on my computer), but it's possible, although you would have to be able to copy and rename the save file you use with GameYob and using JKSV/svdt to inject that save. No harm in trying, at least, just make backups.

nope those saves are in .sav format the ones generated in jk are in .dat these save don't work on VC does anyone have some generated by jk?
Simply rename them to .dat — the extension is different, but the file format itself is the same. they should be 32 KB, and even Gen 1 save editors, for example, should be able to open them. Just make sure you rename them to sav.dat before injecting them.

I have transferred saves back and forth from emulator to/from VC (though this was with svdt, but JKSV should work as well) and had no issues.

Three things:

1. I would argue that SVDT is just as straightforward as JKSV, if not moreso, but it should work fine with JKSV regardless.

2. When injecting the save, what are you doing with the Secure Value?

3. Make sure that the save file is 32 KB. If it's not, what you can try is opening Red/Blue in an emulator like BGB with the save file and then saving the game, this should set the save file to the correct file size. You can rename it to sav.dat and inject it after that.

I'm not doing anything with the secure value

am I supposed to?
