Based on recent tweets from developer SMOKEs' twitter it appears that he is leaving the scene permanently. This appears to be caused by somethings that may or may not have happened between himself and fellow VPKmirror dev haxxeyHD. Again I don't know what that something is or if it actually happened.

Either way SMOKE is a great dev who will be missed greatly, and this user thanks him for his contributions. SMOKE if you read this, much respect to you and your works over the years. I wish you well in your future endeavors.

Problem with devs, is the use of Social Media crap, which does more harm than anything else. Anyone in the console hacking scene should remain anonymous and stay away from such things and release stuff silently. I personally hate social media and don't entertain it at all.

Wow; some of the biggest known faces of the scene seem to be dropping left, right, and center this year; really not the news I wanted to hear... :(

SMOKE did some really neat tricks, apps and tools for the Vita! One I would really like to commend is his PSP-INSTALLER, which can write files and folders to PSP/GAME on the memory card via the Mail Exploit, preferably useful for those staying on 3.50-3.52!

Again, I'm sure he has created an ass-ton of other useful stuff, and it's a shame to see him depart the scene and not being able to do more of that! (Well, that's if he did enjoy doing those sort of things!)

I sort of agree with this. It would be better in some aspects to just let wololo and hackinformer make the release announcements about these various projects and for devs to remain without much of a public online presence. Idk if this is a feasible option though anymore. I worry about this kind of stuff quite often especially with guys like SMOKE and libretto who have more of an online presence than others like Mr. Gas and frangarc.

I agree he did some great things. Hopefully we'll see him again sometime but if not all we can do is wish him well.

Or what about everybody stops going on social media? #DevLivesMatter

I think you're getting at users in general not acting like entitled @$$holes towards devs on social media? I agree completely with this. I've personally contributed nothing but confused questions to the scene and know damn well I deserve nothing from any of you guys. I just wish some others felt the same way. For example was I disappointed when TheFloW delayed Vitamin v2? Yeah, but that doesn't mean I go and start calling him names and blasting him all to hell on the net.

Either way this is SMOKEs decision and I can respect that and I wish him the best.

given how the recent developments are made (pspemu hacked), I think this has to do with the the pspemu, maybe?

some dev ripping some code or asking for some code but not sharing? idk?

just my thoughts

The method you put in that paragraph is already released. It's just an old method to bypass the write-protection to ux0:pspemu/PSP/GAME using the old mail exploit, but probably won't be needed when ARK is ported over to 3.60 anyway...

All the best to the man.
Homebrew devs and hackers give us so much. I'm not going to question their actions, just be thankful for the cool stuff they've spent time and effort on then released for us to enjoy :)

You folks are probably right about social media, there's more likely to be idiotic flaming trolls on general-purpose social networks compared to topic-specific forums (not that there arent douchebags and good people in any social situation).
