Ok, that worked! Thanks again.

I got further now, to
Section III - Configuring Luma3DS

Made it to part 4. Press Start to save and reboot.

After I pushed start, it hung at a black screen on reboot.

Edit--however, holding select gets the Luma3ds loaded again.

keep going, you're going to restore sysnand next with Hourglass9.

Oh no...I don't have NANDmin.bin

When I followed the instructions, back in prep work it said:

" Ensure NANDmin.bin and NANDmin.bin.sha are in the /files9/ folder on your SD card. If you do not have this backup, keep reading, there are instructions in Section IV for you to follow. "

So I just kept reading from that point and kept going.

how do you not have NANDmin.bin? do you have anything with "NAND" at the root or files9?

No...nothing that has Nand or resembles Nand. Checking the sd card, root, files9, nothing. Not even in the copies on the desktop of everything it said to keep a copy of.

Back when I came to that step, when it said "keep reading" I assumed one of the following steps would be the backup at some point.

You'll need to restore 9.20 ctrnand then I think?should be in the guide.
Think you actually missed out the backup. When doing the 2.10 transfer it asks you to do a back up.

better option is to just use system update, since Luma3DS can boot 2.1.0.

Ok, thanks for your advice, qq12345 and ihaveamac.

I'll try a system update tomorrow, it's 3 am here so I have to stop for the day. How do I boot into 2.1.0 right now? If I just boot up on its own without holding select or start it just goes to a black screen.

find the step that says to delete files under "Nintendo 3DS". do that and it should boot.

Ok, I'm back at it. I have done this, and now I am in the home menu of 2.1.0-4u.

This is where the guide says to update. On a different 3ds, I've screwed up doing this step and updated to 11.1 and locked myself out, so I hope this is safe to do on this new one currently on 2.1.0.

As long as you have a9lh installed you're fine. If the console will not turn on without the SD card and you're using an old 3DS you can update.

Great, thanks.

So I got the "unable to update. 3ds will now restart" error.

I already have DNS on auto.

It restarted fine back to 2.1.0's home menu, just sitting here now.

Edit - Tried to do the sysupdate multiple times, got the error every time at the end. Can access the net fine, so it's not that.
