It's obviously not running natively because the PSP used a RISC-based processor and the Vita uses an ARM-based processor.

Anyway, get those 64GB cards while you can - Sony will never release a bigger card, and they won't get cheaper.

Question: Are the PSP and PS1 emulators the same or are they separate applications in the Vita OS? I suspect they are but I have no legitimate reason for believing that.

I have heard the psx emu is sandboxed inside the psp emu, so having access to one grants access to another.

It will hopefully load psx games with full sound, as the Vita is missing the hardware the psp had for psx, hence the reason for two emulators, one for psp and one for psx.

If the ps1 is running through the psp than retroarch might be better in the long run since they would eventually add L2/L3 and R2/R3 support.

TN is closed source, though. Porting it to HENkaku could be much harder than ARK, which is perfectly fine for me.

I don't see how this is the "best" solution when games look just as bad and it's not as compatible as the PSPemu's would be.

You are trolling on purpose... aren't you?

PCSX-RA's native 960x544 looks ten times better than the PSPemu's terrible 480x272 upscaled to Vita resolution. While this is great for people looking to pirate PSP games, if you're looking for the best PSX experience then PCSX-RA is the better choice as soon as the optimizations hit, which should be pretty soon. Even at this stage many games run at 60-50 FPS.

I just edited my post before you made that, yeah I was wrong.

Mmm, if the PSP emu can be unlocked to Vita's full cpu and gpu speed, imagine how DaedalusX64 will run, it's already pretty good at a fraction of it's power. Full speed N64 emu with sound anyone? =P
theres a port of a n64 emu being developed for the native (henkaku) vita hack.

With TheFloW releasing a guide on the best way to add right analog control to PSP, we're going to be able to play all these PSP games in a newer fashion.

Exciting stuff.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.

    nvm it does support mine
