The Guide is made w/ Noobs in mind,
The Guide is made with tried true and CONFIRMED ways to downgrade
The Guide is made with Lowest Brick rate Possible.
The Guide gets updated fast when new safer/Quicker methods show, or updated to overcome a update and a new way gets introduced.
The guide is NOT made that parts can be "Skiped" because someone's Lazy! parts can only be skipped if your starting from that. Allready on 9.2? then you can Skip the downgrade to 9.2 part. manage dto hit teh freak lottery and Scored a 2.1 3DS? you can start from there! but you cant Skip to going right to 2.1 you cant skip any part IF YOU ARE NOT STARTING FROM THAT POINT.

Video guides get outdated Quick and hardly EVER get updated!, some have sketchy downloads, link to many "Paid for Link" sites like linkbucks, some are scummy to put downloads thru"Survey sites" or take you al the way to a critical point only to say "Follow this *OBVIOUS MALICIOUS LINK* to see part 2!" or go thru methods that can lead to a verry High brick rate!

tired of getting the guide in your face because you chose to skip it and use a video guide? getting turned away or told enjoy a paperweight because you were lazy and Skipped a critical part? Boo Whoo To Bad So Sad, you only have yourself to blame.

Most youtube tutorials on modding a 3DS console are most of the time are stretched out to multiable videos as well. Not to mention pretty much every video guide is bound to become out of date and obsolete

Plus, I have no single clue why people like YT tutorials that much.
I mean ok, for a "how to disassemble a 3DS", I can understand it's cool to have images all the time to see where to unscrew stuff and see in real time what we're supposed to do, and the best way to have images all the time is to have a video.

But here? When do we need images? Even if someone wanted to know what's supposed to be seen on SafeA9LHInstaller's screen, it's text only so there is no need for an image. And during all the times where we wait, there's no need for images either. So really, there is very little need for images and even if we needed any, one or two still ones would do the trick but a video is far from being more convenient in my opinion.

Because it shows the steps as a video you can follow?
Someone really think that saw the other people did once and following them is better than reading.

some people are visual learners. but that doesn't make video guides any better. it would be a good thing to add images to Plailect's guide or something.
Yeah, agree if there are some images added to his guide to help the people understand better.

"Our lord and savior Plailect, what is thy word for modding my 3ds?"
And it was said unto thee in a booming voice from the heavens of github, "Thou shalt not use video guides, for they are outdated. Thou must also never use rxTools, or purchase a Gateway. May the Gateway Time Machine only take us back to the point in time before we bought the Gateway." And it was so.

I laughed way too hard on that one :P
It's so annoying to have a Gateway and not knowing what to do with it, especially when it's still kind of useful for cheats but not necessary...

But I can't see how it is better. And I'm saying that as someone who has so many problems reading that it took me 11 hours and 14 hours to install A9LH on my Old and New 3DS (with the old guide, but still), so really, if a video was just not worse, even if not better, I wouldn't say it's worse. On the contrary, it tricks you into thinking you're more guided since you can actually see and hear someone as if you were not alone, but in reality you are since you can't ask questions (same problem with text) or tell them to slow down (not a problem with text). And even worse, since you saw the thing work on video, you'll keep trying even when meeting a problem instead of stopping by gbatemp to ask questions...

I didn't say video guide is better, especially when it's outdated.
Most people usually thinks it's better to have an example with the result to follow.
It's easier to follow up the video steps rather than read the pile of texts and going by themselves, just look the video, click here, go here, bla bla bla.
While the plain text guide, you need to understand what the guide told you to do.
This is the meaning of "better" in my sentence.

In all honesty if someone 100% cannot follow a text based guide that is as simple and well laid out as Plailect's, and absolutely HAVE TO HAVE a video guide, then they probably need to either not mod their 3ds or let someone else do it. This is coming from someone who is very much a visual and hands-on learner. I need to see things done and then attempt to do them myself to learn things properly. I still refuse to use or follow video "tutorials" for things because 90% of the time they are made by people who care more about clicks and views than actually helping their audience. As a result most videos are cluttered and poorly paced for a proper tutorial and often are made worse by an abundance of those "click here" pop-ups that YouTube is so damn fond of.

Did "you" in your sentence means "me"? If yes, you're misunderstand me because I already do A9LH by reading Plailect's guide.
What I said, I mean many people doesn't like to read and understand it, that's why they prefer video guide that show how it's done and just following them with out understand anything.

What I don't understand is that Plailect guides isn't found in any of the current stickies. Everybody here says that this is the guide to follow, but newbies will find for example the 3DS NOOB paradise topic with a link to GBAtemp's own wiki, which don't mention Plailect guide. Same story with all the other stickies in this forum, even in the 3DS - tutorials forum. No clear mention of Plaitect guide (but it is there somewhere)

So it is understandable that newbies go to Youtube to view tutorials, when they want to softmod there 3DS if they first went to GBAtemp.
