Man, remembering the shit quality (because it displayed at native) from the remote joy lite plugin really brings back memories.

Man, resolution scaling would be amazing tbh, doing 2x native resolution on PPSSPP is more than enough to make every game look really good, although I don't know if the Vita could handle something like that.
I don't see why it wouldn't tbh

I mean, you don't need a beast computer to do 2x native resolution on PPSSPP, I have an old cheap laptop that can do that with no problems without dropping FPS.

I do agree that having HD PSP games without a PC would be really amazing though.

This is exciting, without question. Crisis Core will definitely be getting revisited when this happens.

Question: Are the PSP and PS1 emulators the same or are they separate applications in the Vita OS? I suspect they are but I have no legitimate reason for believing that.

If memory serves, once they had access to pspemu on the old hack. Rejuvenation or whatever it was....

It wasn't long till they had access to pops (playstation emulator)

Same emulator. TheFlow mentioned that they are the same - one user wrote that he only cared about a PS1 emulator.

To be honest, with the money you'd have to spend on getting a 64GB Vita card, you could probably buy a PSP, a 64GB microSD, a microSD adapter and have some change leftover, and now you get to enjoy all these nice PSP games for way less than a Vita memory card.

I'll probably just end up buying a new screen for my 3k and clean the insides, it's been years since I've played PSP.
I'm not very interested in ePSP hacks, because I also own a 3k (I just replaced its shell with a transparent one yesterday, actually), but it is definitely the one thing keeping some people on older FWs than 3.60.

Playing Project Diva Extend with a controller at 1080p on a PC running PPSSPP is pretty fucking awesome, especially if you use the FPS cheat that removes the 30FPS lock. 1080p60 Diva is great.

Sadly, the PSP itself can't handle 60FPS and will go around 30-40 during gameplay. Menus feel smoother on the PSP if Framerate gets unlocked though.

Mmm, if the PSP emu can be unlocked to Vita's full cpu and gpu speed, imagine how DaedalusX64 will run, it's already pretty good at a fraction of it's power. Full speed N64 emu with sound anyone? =P

I have heard a lot of people on here and on other websites talking about this and also the need to get memory cards. Are bigger memory cards a necessity for this hack?
Nope, people are just complaining that memory cards are expensive. Has nothing to do with the hack.

As for the news, neat.

For lots of warez, yes.

Thank you for the response. I sort of imagined that memory card would not have anything to do with the actual hack but after seeing some eccentric hardware based hacks over the years (the Pandora battery being one of them), I no longer immediately rule anything out...lol.

If someone takes this and turns it into something better than Sony's current PSP emulation on Vita it will be great, if it just allows the same blurry mess as before I'll stick with my 2K or Go for PSP stuff and use the Vita for stuff that actually makes good use of the OLED.

Marvelous.

It'd be nice if he mentioned what specifically this method of access allows for. I would be very disappointed if it ended up being a glorified VHBL set up with the same limitations. Hoping for the ability to GPU overclock with PSP games to apply more effects and scaling, as well as either the ability generate bubbles for PSP/PS1 ISOs we can launch directly from the Live Area or a front end that will let us load our own PSP/PS1 ISOs.

Just think about how the library of games you can play will grow if they unlock ps1 and psp.
I can understend the worry of people about the memory card size but is only a question of organization. Keep your favorite games and make a space for that ones you will finish and delete, I'm sure even If you is a multigame player, theres room for good choices. For small memory cards can look hard but still you will be able to play all games once a time.
