Is it safe to update A9LH to the version that can boot without the SD? It's been like 2 months and there's still no official release.
Probably for a good reason, me personally would wait for official news. But i hear others use shadownand which has i uess no known problems but is not full LUMACFW is something little different.

You can but I wouldn't use the NAND CFW as an everyday solution. I'd still use the regular SD CFW. I installed it cuz it merged screeninit and noscreeninit a9lh and when I screw my cfw installation, I can boot without SD, insert the SD and use my Updater to fix it.

GBA injects have worked for a long time. GPSP works reasonably well. Also, no, that's not so simple and it's still WIP, NDS stuff isn't like that.

From mine and many others testing it seems safe, though I wouldn't update to it unless you know what you are doing and have a way to unbrick if it messes up (aka ability/willingness to hardmod and a NAND backup of preferably right before trying to update)
I've installed it onto 5 o3ds devices now and have had no problems, but I must put caution out for doing it just to keep people from getting mad at me if something goes wrong.

No idea what the heck that is but, unless you need it, why not just us the normal? well one thing. IT WORKS like it supposed to.
afaik the latest version of luma support twlBg.cxi on both the dev and non-dev version.
