Maybe, maybe not. I'm not on team SALT but I'm just drawing comparison to how the Wii (or vWii) operates now and how Loadiine is currently working. We may not be able to get the actual game installers to install to the base menu and will need to unpack titles from .wud and place on HDD.
Seeing as how the wiiu's os is different to the wii's and since it can download wii u games to the home menu idk.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I'm just saying whether we get IOSU access nor or later, it won't make much difference, if at all, towards hurting Wii U, that's all.
probably yeah.

i would kinda prefer unpacked games running from usb (mainly to facilitate game hacks/mods etc) rather than being limited to formatting a drive to wiiu format and being limited to only using the drive on the wiiu (or having to have multiple partitions), although i do see freeushop being a thing seeing as the whole nus title keys things is pretty much the same deal for the wiiu and 3ds,so it wouldn't take long to replicate it (it could probably even be done now with the current kernel exploit afaik)

Thats why an installation system would be amazing

Your making me confused man. Have you ever used WBFS manager for the Wii/vWii? That's exactly what you're referring to for a WiiU installer, it's essentially the same thing, except WBFS installed the games to your emuNAND (or your real NAND if you wanted) for your Wii/vWii titles and DLC to your external HDD. It won't be possible as soon as IOSU is released (or maybe it is, maybe that's what they're working on), but I'm sure we will have something similar.

except installing them to the system means you need to reformat your USB drive to wiiu format, sure it would be good and afaik already done by smea with iosu so that would kinda be a obvious option, but personally i would prefer to keep my usb as fat32 and be able to have whatever i like on it without having to make separate partitions etc, maybe with simple forwarders that can be installed to the system memory and boot the games from fat32

buts lets not get ahead of ourselves, i would be happy with whatever we get, we all know how quickly thing can change around here :P

I have a question:

With this exploit, will we be required to run anything additional in order to run mods? That is to say, is this sort of the equivalent of A9LH/CFW? I've yet to mod my Wii U because of the extra steps that you have to take each time you want to run any kind of mods.

Stuff takes time, yo. We have a few things going at the moment between not requiring 64GB SD cards and modifying some PowerPC RPLs and kernel.
Yeah. I personally do not care when as much as that it releases at all. Thing is super cool.

What extra steps? I click on the browser icon and BOOM! I'm in Loadiine. How is that any different than having a "Homebrew Channel" on the main menu. It's the same amount of clicks.

Feels like we are being Hykemed all over again
The warning to update to 5.5.1 was because all open webkit is getting massive updates. Things like firefox adding the not autoloading plugins to trigger malformed videos and pop ups. Major security issues with prior webkit versions have been repaired. By killing the auto load and forcing you to click to enable would stop the websploit being used for wii u since the plugins used get called from IOS. And IOS would just not execute.
They want you to update not because after release they will patch but before if they patch the websploit being used you will be unable to be at 5.5.1. Also, they are saying go ahead and enjoy online with the current firmware as that is the firmware they are exploiting.
They are mocking up nand and storage inside of an sd card. There is alot to be done to make that work. And it sounds like they aren't just releasing the exploit but other things to go along with it. So, chill out.

Fair enough if we are being communicated to then we are not being Hykemed. (Puts on his patient hat)

Most of me just wants it to be released so that people will shut the help up about it.
Then the flurry of "help me pls I can't pirate this game" comes pouring in from the people who won't shut up about it, and hundreds of posts of them being incompetent and not reading correctly.

not pointing at anybody in particular, but pointing at a particular set of people.

The main thing with any developer saying a project is nearing to completion, it's absolutely relative to their perception of time and everybody perceives time in their own way, and comparitively to the release of the wiiu, I'd say it gives you a lot more leeway.

even though nobody said soon™ anyway

Even the pirates should still be happy with loadiine playing their games, so I don't see why people are so desperate for it, it's gonna help the homebrew side of things a lot more than anything

Pirated online play instead of offline only. That's what IOSU can give us in terms of piracy I believe. And also the fact that people won't think you're an idiot when playing Mii Maker for 3 hours straight.

XD Exactly! I spend more time playing Mii Maker than Xenoblade X (because of the uncensored version) :rofl2:

I'm sure the top played game on the Wii U is Mii Maker... *facepalm*
