Nah, I just want to keep homebrew and games. What step do I start on and do I have to delete EmuNAND?
What is your current setup? Do you have A9LH installed already with Emunand?

Which one would I do for step 1 if I am on modified firmware. When I installed RXtools a year ago I used the 9.2 modified update pack (without DS-whitelist update, TWL-firm update, MSET update, AGB-firm update). When installed it turned out to be 9.0.0-20U.

Has anyone else done this on modified firmware.

or actually is there any way to update to full 9.2 before I start?

I've run into a bit of a problem.

I've got everything up to Part 3, Section V - Injecting FBI.
When I try to dump FBI from my sysNAND, I'm provided with this readout:

Selected [Health&Safety Dump]
Searching title "Health&Safety" ...
Method 1: Search in title.db ...
Found title 0004001000021300
TMD0 found at 15EE8000, size 2868b
APP0 not found or fragmented!
Health&Safety Dump: failed!

My Old 3DS is on 4.2, and I have downgraded through Gateway previously.
Using the provided firmware.bin, I'm able to boot into sysNAND, but I can't boot Decrypt9 in any of the ways I've tried (payload, browser, and ninjhax). So I can't even restore a 9.2 ctr transfer and start from there.

Any ideas?

Edit: Fixed.
I was using Decrypt9.dat to launch the payload instead of Decrypt9.bin

Fragmented h&s app was indeed caused by Gateway, and can be fixed by doing the following:
Dump your CTR Transfer through Decrypt9
Mount it as a drive (using OFSMount was recommended)
Defrag it using Defraggler
Restore defragged CTR Transfer using Decrypt9

Keep EmuNAND and change MenuHax to A9LH. Unless this unbricking thing works then get rid of EmuNAND but keep its data.
basically, install A9LH using the guide, but set LUMA 3ds to boot your emunand instead.

That way, you'll have both a 9.2 sysnand with A9LH, and a 11.0 Emunand. At this point, the 11.0 update from sysnand would be totally optionnal.

Do I skip a step or redowngrade?

What is your current sysnand? basically, what I would have done is: Backing up the sd card to a safe folder. follow the new guide normally. once you arrive to the sysnand restaure, simply reflash your nandmin.bin (your 9.2 sysnand) and keep A9LH. once it is done, get your files back, set your cfw to boot on emunand, and voilà.

Well, that was painless.

By the way, I love how the new version of Hourglass9 uses green font to indicate that things are successfully installed. Just one glance and you notice everything's working again.

I did it on a previously downgraded 10.7 system (the Super Mario 3D Land version). I used OoTHax as my entry point, and got into Decrypt9 by using the Homebrew Launcher menu. While installing armloaderhax, I got a scare - the SafeA9LHInstaller screen glitched out, but the buttons still worked (basically, the bottom screen just looked like a mess and the top screen was still the web browser). Upon reboot, it gave me the Luma3DS config screen. (First 3DS that glitched out like that. Really?)

I'm currently updating from 9.2 to the latest firmware and then installing all the other goodies.

(Damn, I'm tempted to keep this system.)

Lol I feel you, I installed the A9LH thing on my 2nd N3ds yesterday. It was fine at the downgrade part, once I booted back, it froze whgen I attempted to launch the web browser. I forced a shut down and booted again. I had a heart stroke when I noticed the screen becoming a rainbow mess! It was scary, but at this point, it was caused by the power saving mode. I swear I was fearing a brick for a moment, lol.

Speaking of the new guide, we need seeders for the files pertinent to it. I and a few others have our seedboxes chugging along, but there have been hundreds of downloads on these files yet we still only have 20 or so seeders for each file (even less on some files). Even if you have terrible bandwidth or a slow connection, you can set the priority and a speed limit on the files you grab. Every little bit helps.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.

Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha

@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
