Already opened it and cleaned it. Didn't do any good. If that paper trick doesn't work, I'll just send it back and get a replacement...

And I only had this thing for almost 4 weeks. >_<

EDIT: Nope. Not even the paper trick works.

Wait, a DSTwo or DSTwo+? If it's a plus... I wouldn't be surprised.

So it WAS recognizing the DSTwo, and now it's not? You tried both the 3DS and the DS? Or it works and just crashes on you while playing? Make sure to test both systems. See if it recognizes it in either. Not worried if it crashes or whatever. As long as the game icon appears and you can boot into it, you're good. If not...

You tried a fresh format and install? Back up your old files and start fresh. Make sure it's the DSTwo not the mSD.

Why are you using EOS 1.11? What FW is the DSTwo on? Go get EOS 1.14 and FW 1.25 update. I've been able to get iMenu to work just fine with 1.14 & FW 1.25. You have to really hunt down the iMenu thread and make sure you DL -EVERYTHING- and only pull over certain files. But not having latest FW does make a difference.

So don't panic. Let's give some TLC to your DSTwo so it can love you back:
1) Start by backing up your mSD files to PC.
Yuuuuup! Backup, backup, backup! Always step 1.

2) Then properly format your mSD. Make sure it is FAT32 not exFAT. This means resetting your mSD to defaults (exFAT) then formatting it back to FAT32:

A) To reset defaults of mSD, DL and use this: SanDisk Formatter For Windows
MAKE SURE TO SELECT YOUR mSD DRIVE AND -NOT- C: (Unless you like reformatting your PC's HDD and wasting precious hours of your life)

MAKE SURE YOU SELECT:
OPTIONS>
QUICK - ON>
FORMAT ADJUSTMENT - ON>

Okay... now format it.
B) To FAT32 the mSD use this: Ridgecorp FAT32 GUI Formatter
(you can thank GothicIII for this. It really solved my mSD problem... let the spamming begin)

Again, DO -NOT- SELECT C:!!!! (Duh!) Make sure you select mSD drive letter>
ALLOCATION SIZE = 32768>
QUICKFORMAT = YES>

Okay... now format it.

3) Then copy the 1.14 EOS & FW 1.25 Update files to mSD. Please see STICKY THREAD on how to do this!!!!

I would prefer you use a DS to update the FW, but it does work on a 3DS, just make sure to wait 5-10 mins before exiting the error. It's working, just not the way its supposed to:
If you only have access to a 3DS, it is important that you update your DSTWO's firmware before you update the firmware on your 3DS. If you have access to a DS phat/lite/i/XL then you can update on any of those devices without worry as long as you have the latest EOS on the DSTWO.

Firmware 1.09 - works on 3DS's on v1.1.0-1 and prior
Firmware 1.12 - works on 3DS's on v2.2.0-4 and prior
Firmware 1.13 - works on 3DS's on v3.0.0-6 and prior
Firmware 1.15 - works on 3DS's on v4.1.0-8 and prior
Firmware 1.16 - works on 3DS's on v4.2.0-9 and prior
Firmware 1.17 - works on 3DS's on v4.3.0-10 and prior
Firmware 1.18 - works on 3DS's on v4.4.0-10 and prior
Firmware 1.19 - works on 3DS's on v5.1.0-11 and prior
Firmware 1.20 - works on 3DS's on v6.1.0-12 and prior
Firmware 1.23 - works on 3DS's on v6.3.0-12 and prior
Firmware 1.25 - works on 3DS's on v9.4.0-21 and prior

1. Download the latest firmware from the top of this post.

2. Extract "dstwoupdate.dat" to the root of your microsd card.

3. Put your microsd card into your DSTwo and insert it into a DS phat/lite/i/XL or your 3DS.

4. Turn on the DS and start the DSTwo, once you get to the plugin menu it should show a popup saying "Update system *your current firmware here* - 1.25", press A here to start updating. Make sure that you do NOT turn off or close the DS until it is finished upgrading.

5. If you did not see the popup, trying renaming "dstwoupdate.dat" to "ds2update.dat", then try it again.

You should now be on the latest Firmware, and dstwoupdate.dat (or ds2update.dat) should no longer be on your MicroSD card if it updated correctly.

-----------

If you started the update but it didn't finish, and now the DSTwo isn't recognized, you just get "Update error, enter than wait 3 minutes"
still in the process of trying to figure out a fix, read this thread for more info
possible fix is to download this and extract system1.dat into your _dstwo folder, then try the firmware update again.

4) Now check it. No seriously. Pop the DSTwo into your system. See if the game icon appears. Boot it up and see if it works before you add anything.
It's dead. d-e-d. Dead. You broke it. Bad pirate. R-rrrrgh!!! :hateit:
Yay!!! Onto the Plugins!!! :hrth:
1) You now have to install all your plugins like CATSFC, TempGBA, etc...
Again, Sticky Note & GBATemp DSTwo Plugin Wiki or the DSTwo Plugin site.
The ones I use:
  • TEMPGBA - (GameBoy Advanced)
Don't forget TempGBA has an updated game file list, I don't think I ever finished installing that, but you should.
  • CATSFC - (SNES / Super Famicom)
  • LAMEBOY - (GameBoy / Color)
  • NESDS - (NES / Famicom)
  • NITROGRAFX - (TurboGRFX-16)
  • JENESISDS - (Sega Genesis)

Everything else I take off. Including Moonshell if you have it on. I really don't have a use for it at this point. Besides, moonshell will get messy later...

But don't get rid of the infamous DSTwo DS Emu. That's important. You'll see why later... But yeah, No use for iReader unless you want guides, no need for Media player because... why? You have a phone, right? You don't really need the ultimate pack. Maybe the wifi sniffer, or the PokesaveDS, but stick to your basics, for now.

Cheats are alright. Yeah, follow the guide and install cheats if you want.

2) Once you have checked to make sure they --ALL-- work, BACK UP YOUR mSD TO PC!!!!
(Backup, backup, backup... you know the drill!)
1) Go to the iMENU TUTORIAL.

2) First get the iMENU REPLACEMENT from the iMenu Tutorial. Extract it to your PC.
This is ONLY the plugin. You can also get it from the Plugin Wiki page. While it has the .NDS file, we'll end up replacing it next. There was something wrong with this file. I don't think it was the updated version. Not sure...

So copy both the "_iMenu" and "_dstwo" folders to your mSD. Just Drag n' Drop and replace any file when prompted.

3) From the iMenu Tutorial DL the 24110-iMenu set-up b3.3 4-18-11 and extract it to your PC.
This is EVERYTHING and some of it we don't need.
Only copy the following folders to the mSD (Again, Drag n' drop and replace all files when prompted):
  • _dsplugin
  • _dstwo
  • _iMenu

Leave the rest alone.

4) Don't forget the neat DSTwo mSD icon and drive name file HERE.
Extract it and just copy it straight to the mSD root.
This simply makes your mSD display a neat icon and name when you put it into your PC.

5) Now pop in your mSD to your DSTwo. Pop the DSTwo into the 3DS/whatnot and launch that sucker.
The screen should blink white 4 times and load into iMenu.
Yup, it's the contacts and neither the DSTwo nor the mSD.
Now, before you do anything, try the DSTwo Menu Icon and see if it goes back to the old DSTwo setup. If so, find the iMenu icon and go back to iMenu.
Then iMenu is installed.
Then we might have to reverse the way we copied those folders. First the set-up stuff, then the plugin.

6) Clean up iMenu icons.
Please leave the DSTwo Menu icon alone. Check the other icons and make sure they work. If not, delete them from iMenu by pressing SELECT>Delete. Then rename them if you must. I know the CATSFC is going to be a bit messed up, they way to solve that is to simply copy over the CATSFC plugin pack to the DSTwo, not the iMenu (just the plugin and icon from wiki page, not the whole app). Then, while in iMenu, make sure it launches and then rename it if you must.

7) Did it work?
Yay. I'm a genius. Done. Fin. Enjoy!
Best bet? Repeat the entire 3) Now The iMenu section. Try again. Still no? Try using the plugin from the wiki page instead. Report back here and tell us what's going on. It's not over yet.
Once everything works, iMenu is all setup, THEN slap your ROMs folder back on. Don't forget to copy all your GAME.SAV files to root.

If you want, now is a good time to install Moonshell and whatnot. Just don't replace either of the "_dstwo.nds" or "dstwo.nds" files in the "_dstwo" folder. That's where the iMenu injection seems to reside. Haven't quite figured that one out yet...

Try NOT to do ANYTHING to the "_iMenu" folder. AT ALL!!

but i am sure that his problem was the same of mine, dstwo cart contact issue!if he use a contact spray on the pcb he must DEFINITELY resolve that problem!mine now was recognized every time i pull out and reinsert and never freezing again!he MUST use that method before formatting anything :)

So the DSTwo+? They are thinner... I would've thought it would make an improvement over the sticker protruding old DSTwo... I still have to gank that thing out of my 3DS.

Wow. I've had mine for over what... almost 3 years now? Never had this issue unless I messed up mSD.

It's gotta be a DSTwo+. That's the only thing I could see not making proper contact.

Yes, spray it with contact spray.

Otherwise, Superkard may have to rethink their cartridge design. Sure, they got rid of the protruding sticker problem, but now it seems they made their carts too flimsy. Maybe take it apart and use a thin plastic can lid and cut out an outline of the pcb and slip it under, then put back together?

Heck, card stock paper would work. They were already using paper to jam it in, might as well put it where it counts... even transparency paper would work. Not tracing paper. Stay away from tracing paper and PCB. Bad mix.

When you shake it does it rattle a little? Even some of the 3DS Retail carts do this. But they always worked... then again, they were using stock cartridges manufactured by Nintendo.

None of my flashcarts rattle. DSTwo, GWRC, GWBC... well, the Sky3DS does, but that's the cheapo blue button rattling.

I'm shocked they didn't catch this before production... do they even R&D these things?
