Yifan Lu Announces HENKaku - A New Native Vita Homebrew Enabler for 3.60.

Earlier today, Yifan Lu, a well-known member of the Vita hacking scene famous for the Rejuvenate hack for the Dev Assistants, has announced that a new (native!) Vita homebrew enabler for the latest firmware version, as of writing (3.60), will be arriving tomorrow at "9:00AM UTC".

The new hack, known as "HENKaku", will require the following:
  • A Vita/PSTV running 3.60
  • A memcard with at least 10MB of free space (internal memory is currently not supported!)
  • An FTP client
  • An internet connection**
**Offline support is now available! Launch the exploit straight from the email app without the need for internet access at all! See the unofficial release thread for more details. (Internet connection still required for installation)

This is a small paragraph of Yifan Lu himself explaining what the properties of this new homebrew enabler does:

HENkaku simply lets you install homebrew as bubbles in LiveArea. It is a native hack that disables the filesystem sandbox. It installs molecularShell, a fork of VitaShell that lets you access the memory card over FTP and install homebrew packages (which we create as VPK files). With vita-toolchain, developers have access to the same system features licensed developers have access to as well as undocumented features that licensed developers cannot use (including overclocking the processors).

The hack has been released at http://henkaku.me ~ Furthermore, the hack is said to be exclusive to 3.60, and there is to be no backports for the time being.

The exploit has been available for a couple of hours so you'll have to be patient. I'd imagine that Retroarch will be ported to .vpk format soon.

Yeah sorry for that. I'm just excited as anyone else here- :)
I mean the name HENKaku means change, right?

Edit: and is a wordplay with odd/strange spelling?

Not sure if these question is right here.
Has enyone found a NES emulator supporting these hack? I can't find one atm, but maybe someone other found one.
Then all the old Nintendo consoles (expect N64, but DaedalusX64 dons't runs very well anyway) are there and VHBL is abadonable for emulators [at least for me since I don't want a C64 emulator without a real keyboard] (strange to say that for a Sony console, but there is no PSX or PSP emulator for vhbl...)

Well if I can get VHBL to run right, you could just use a PSP nes emulator.

Yeah, me too, for the sake of curiosity; I hadn't used my vita for almost a year now. Also, if we have a way to start other processes, be it in the environment of our own process or otherwise, we might be able to load the dumped game from the memory card, maybe by patching paths statically on the dumped files or maybe via some nasty usermode hook in the execve'd process...

For me, having a write access to ux0:/license/ is giving me some ideas to keep my cart games on the go, but mostly assured that it will fail :P (trying atm)

I have a very important question. Can i back up my save data with this without needing PSplus? I don't want to buy it just yet for the purpose of backing up save data. I think i need to format my system cause Some games won't boot, it gives me error code. So please tell me if i can and how.

Also I also wanna know if using a usb instead of FTP or even lan would work in the future, since I kinda think ftp shouldn't rely solely on filezilla to operate.

Windows Explorer functions as an FTP client.

That's probably a dumb question, but since you got it to work...
At step 4 of this guide (http://hackinformer.com/PlayStation..._install_vhbl_bubble_without_exploitgame.html), do I need to copy the EBOOT.PBP file directly to the game folder and replace the original, or does it need to be named "#0"?

You want PBOOT.PBP, and it needs to keep its name.

You can use qcma or opencma to backup your games to a PC (but the whole game will be backed up including the savegame) You can also backup your whole memory card using qcma or opencma.

I just need the save data. I can always download the games again. That is why i didn't like the requirement of needing PS plus to backup games. Is only allowed when you pay for subscription. Which is like $50 a year. But who knows if they will activly use it and not waste their money for "Just in case" Purposes. I been thinking of just getting it and doing the back ups but, i prefer to wait for a necessary reason like a game on discount or free game available.

If you find a way just to backup your savedata, tell me. c: I hate it to backup the whole game, just to save the savegame. :c

I can confirm that both Picodrive and VitaFTP work perfectly using VHBL. Just put the folder of your homebrew in ux0:/pspemu/PSP/VHBL/[your homebrew here]. This folder should contain the eboot.pbp.

Could you direct me to picodrive? Can't find a VHBL compatible version.
