Yifan Lu Announces HENKaku - A New Native Vita Homebrew Enabler for 3.60.

Earlier today, Yifan Lu, a well-known member of the Vita hacking scene famous for the Rejuvenate hack for the Dev Assistants, has announced that a new (native!) Vita homebrew enabler for the latest firmware version, as of writing (3.60), will be arriving tomorrow at "9:00AM UTC".

The new hack, known as "HENKaku", will require the following:
  • A Vita/PSTV running 3.60
  • A memcard with at least 10MB of free space (internal memory is currently not supported!)
  • An FTP client
  • An internet connection**
**Offline support is now available! Launch the exploit straight from the email app without the need for internet access at all! See the unofficial release thread for more details. (Internet connection still required for installation)

This is a small paragraph of Yifan Lu himself explaining what the properties of this new homebrew enabler does:

HENkaku simply lets you install homebrew as bubbles in LiveArea. It is a native hack that disables the filesystem sandbox. It installs molecularShell, a fork of VitaShell that lets you access the memory card over FTP and install homebrew packages (which we create as VPK files). With vita-toolchain, developers have access to the same system features licensed developers have access to as well as undocumented features that licensed developers cannot use (including overclocking the processors).

The hack has been released at http://henkaku.me ~ Furthermore, the hack is said to be exclusive to 3.60, and there is to be no backports for the time being.

Will go buy another vita to update and see how this works out. But can't see losing 3.18 exploits at this time.

Really hoping TN-V and TNX gets ported to 3.60 or run natively through Henkaku.
I already have two vitas one on 3.18 with TN-V and TNX and one on latest (3.60) for trophies, online and latest releases.

I dont know why so many are willing to throw away their old firmware systems yet. ATM, i see no reason to update an old firmware system.
I would wait it out until the epsp side is opened on 3.60 through Henkaku.
If sony releases a new update by that time you can always update offline as well.
It's a bit more work but you give yourself more options by playing the wait and see game.

Yifan-Lu, thanks for your efforts and everyone else who helped out along the way.

3.57 will not be possible until the exploit gets backported, and even then it will simply take too long to wait for it...
You are really better off updating from 3.57 to 3.60 anyway.

Hi guys! If I never update my ps vita the new firmware (3.60<) can I use PS4 Link? Sorry for my bad english.
PS4 Link requires you to connect to PSN even when choosing to stream on local network, so unfortunately no.

You know what, I'm gonna bite the bullet and update from 3.50 to 3.60. I mean I only lose ePSP and I can emulate anyway.
Or just buy another Vita.

The HENkaku release is just under half an hour away! Can't wait to be trying this out, and I'm sure a lot of other keen folk will be excited to experiment with it too!
I just sincerely hope that it can last! Not like Rejuvenate that quickly lost interest due to the difficult setup process and limitations! :(

I will be sure to post my experience with it later! :yaypsp:

Great news, I'm interested to see how this unfolds. I won't upgrade just yet but looking forward to read your experiences.
