yes i am using emunand booted with menuhax with reinand CFW ,yes i start CHMM from installed cia on my emunand
have not checked for those files not sure where to look for them

I've wrote you different tools to check the existence for these files. If shuffle system doesn't work for you three are the possible causes:
1) You're bad using CHMM2 (i hardly doubt this is the problem).
2) Your extdata misses for these files resulting in themes not being installed at all.
3) You're trying to use shuffle system on a fw <= 9.0.

So, after applying a default skin I can re-apply a new skin in CHMM2, but with no sound. Trying to install another theme via CHMM2 gives the same error again.
So basicallly:
1. apply Theme via CHMM2 -> works
2. reboot
3. apply another theme -> Error
4. change to default skin
5. apply theme again in CHMM2 -> works, but no sound
6. repeat at step 2.

Oh, and still the Blend3r Icon.

Try to delete extdata files for themes (do you know how to do it? In the past, i provided instructions for this procedure several times in this thread), then start nintendo themes manager and then CHMM2. When applying a new theme, try to first set a default theme with the nintendo ones and then apply a new theme with CHMM2 (basically, restore your extdata files and then do the same procedure you did without the point 3.

Gambia, The
SD:\Nintendo 3DS\your_id1\your_id2\extdata\00000000\archive
your_id1 can be anything; if there's multiple, try opening each one to see which might be yours. archive will be two folders depending on your region.
EUR: 000002ce and 00000098
Deleting those two folders?

6. repeat at step 2.
Nothing changed. Step 3 still gives the same error, step 4 fixes it and 5 works without sound.

/edit
Nevermind after reboot sound works.

Hey, so with the recent browserhax exploit I managed to get the Homebrew Channel run on 11.0 firmware and went right to custom themes. However I can't seem to get it to work properly: trying to use the shuffle feature gives me the message "Error: [string "?"]:696: error opening file" when trying to save. I should note that installing a single theme does work. Also I'm not sure if that's normal but CHMM shows up as BLEND3R on the Homebrew Channel.

The current state of my 3DS is firmware 11.0.0-33EUR, with humblehax and menuhax installed. I had to delete the folders 000002ce and 00000098 mentionned above and reboot the console to create new ones in order for menuhax to install properly, and I had to do it again because CHMM wouldn't launch when using humblehax, giving me the message "Error: [string "?"]:472: error opening file". (seems to work fine using humblehax now, shuffle feature still not working though)
I unzipped all the contents of "CHMM28.rar" in sd:/3ds/CHMM28, I don't know if that's how it's supposed to be but I couldn't find any instructions regarding the file setup so I'm guessing it has to.

I am pretty novice when it comes to 3DS hacking and may have overlooked something obivious, so I was wondering if anyone could help me with those issues.

@Rinnegatamante The search system keyboard is in trouble I press the letter so that is not responding adequately to the touch.
The response mode to taps on the keyboard screen is too slow.

BLEND3R icon is a mistake which will be fixed in next release. You can take the SMDH file from other versions of CHMM2 and replace it to fix it by yourself.
As for the errors, do you have themes with non ASCII characters in the name? If so, rename it in order to use only ASCII chars.

As for the CHMM installation, you must have this setup: /3ds/FOLDERNAME/FOLDERNAME.3dsx /3ds/FOLDERNAME/FOLDERNAME.xml where FOLDERNAME can be whatever you want (CHMM28, CHMM2, CHMMOVER9000 etc...).

@Rinnegatamante It would be possible to add an option that shows a warning if there were any new update if the internet is enabled.
It would be possible to also add some function that generates a preview image if the theme does not have the previous file.

About the preview thing, it's not possible atm since body_LZ is encrypted (needs to integrate a decrypter and it would require quite a good amount of time).
As for the auto-updater, it's an already planned feature that will be added in the future.

Is error 599 a common one? I've gotten it with several of themes.

I did a thread search for 599, but it said the search was too short/common RIP

example: è é ò à ù ç § are not ASCII characters (es Pokèmon Theme/body_LZ.bin = error in CHMM2).
Ah, thanks.

Neither of the two I'm currently trying had any characters like that, but I renamed them anyways to be safe to HxH (hunter x hunter theme) and MH (monster hunter theme) and still getting the same error w/ both of them

This is apparently where your error pops out. Basically it seems you don't have proper extdata files. You can fix it by executing at least once the Nintendo Themes manager or if you did it before, you must delete theme extdata files and let Nintendo Themes manager regenerate them. (For the second tip, it's a solution i suggested few posts ago to another user).
