you must work for google because none of what you said makes sense
how does it not make sense to require you to enter your google account password when you switch to that account on the device? you have to enter it one initially anyways, what is the problem with having to enter it again every time another user switches to their google account ont he device
and AFAIK this is exactly how it works with windows

what are you saying

and do you not see how you solution of lock screen passwords does not at all solve my dilema?
i want to give this tablet to someone else without wiping and restoring it
but my googel account is the primary account on the device

if i set a lock screen password and give it away the second they power off the tablet and turn it on again it will boot back to my account and they will still need my lock screen password to get in

what i need to do is change the primary owner account t another google account
there should be an option for them not having one is retarded just as retarded as not having an option of requiring a google account password
for switching between users on a device

when i log into my windows PC i get prompted for my password if i sign in as another user i get prompted for a password , 2 userd can easily share a device and i cann assign admin privileges to other users i think , not just primary user
aslo whe i reboot iget an option of which user i want to sign in as , it does not reboot to a specific user profile like this shit does
When you are switching accounts you are not switching to YOUR google account, you're switching to your user profile with everything it contains such as Google accounts, just like your account on Windows contains all your browser data with logins for various websites.

No, if you add multiple user profiles (not Google accounts) and set a lock screen password for one or more of them and give it away they can switch to their account and get in with their password (if they have one)

I'm starting to think you haven't even tried the multiuser support in Android, you just set up multiple Google accounts on one user and expected it to count them as separate users when they are all added to the same user profile.

i have no idea what you are saying , i have multiple users that is all i know , i have 2 accounts registered on the device, a lolipop tablet
the 1st google account i put in locked itself to the device , it says" owner account"
i went into "user" hit the pus button then i entered another google account and password and added a used account tot eh device
i do not think there is any other way , so i dont know what you are talking about
but this shit is useless and backwards AF
i cant switch the owner account to another account , it reboots every time to the owner account , so i cant use lock screen passwords, and give the tablet to a family member , because then they will need to have my lock screen password to get into the device, then they will still have access to my email and be getting my heads up notifications
the only way to solve the problem in to be able to switch which account is the owner or primary account

I believe you can change user accounts without entering the lock screen password by pulling down the notification tray and tapping the user icon, then tapping one of the available accounts. This is also where you add more accounts.

yes that is where i added the accounts , this would be a good enough option i suppose
but if i set a lockscreen password does it only apply to the one device? or will google apply it to all my devices?
i have another identical tablet so if i set a lockscreen on this tablet will it carry over through my google account to the other tablet ,it's the same exacxt device model and OS? i do not want to use a lockscreen on the other tablet

how come android is such a piece of shit?
Sounds like user error to me :P . Anyway, in all seriousness, I find that a lot of people I know (myself included) who've had or used iOS devices in the past prefer Android. Speaking for myself, literally every facet of the OS is better, at least as far as customization and user-friendliness. You want a plain vanilla phone? You got it. Want to make that same phone into a digital Swiss Army Knife? Done, with some research and common sense. My point is that Android is pretty flexible, and the whole idea of having a third party app provide a function is part of the appeal. Sure, you can muddle through the settings, add a new user, hook up an account to it, then make that account the device owner... But the fact that you have an app that can handle all of that for you is spiffy. It provides a user-friendly option. So what if that app isn't on there already? Not everyone will want or need it, but the fact is that it exists, and that's awesome. I'd rather have a more open environment, both for apps and being able to use my phone, versus having something that's pretty locked down.

You keep calling Google out here, but the simple fact is that they're not at fault. Android is an open-source OS. And all of these smartphone/device manufacturers use that OS because it's low-cost. They all do their own little tweaks to it as well. If you're looking for someone to point the finger at for making their users guinea pigs, for not testing the products enough, then the manufacturers are who to go after. I'm not trying to say you're wrong, I've had my own share of frustrations with Android, but that's the same for any piece of technology. You just have to chill and learn all the ins and outs. I hope things work out better for you next time. Cheers.

yeah i agree with all of that but there are just some basic things that should be included with out the need for addons .plugins or external apps
they went a little too far with their minimalist BS

not sure what you meant to say here
"Sure, you can muddle through the settings, add a new user, hook up an account to it, then make that account the device owner."
but there is no setting to make another user the device owner ,also there is no way to delete the primary or device owner account
under user settings there is no delete rubbish barrel icon next to the primary owner user account like there is next to the other users even the "new user" user icon has a rubbish barrel delete icon next to it, WTF??? more shit that makes absolutly no sense, how can you delete "new user" when it has not even been added yet,it makes no god damn sense, see it is stupid autism like this that really pisses me off
it says "new user (not set up yet)" and there is a fucking delete icon next to it,but not one for the primary(owner) , this is the height of autism
this is exactly what i am talking about here , these people have absolutely ZERO communication skills , their design and communications skills are just hilariously bad

obvioulsy if you create a new user it will get it's own user icon with it's own delete icon next to it, so why is there one next to "new user" , makes no sense at all
just shoes these people lack basic common sense
only ones with no delete icon are guest and the primary owner account

I guess the easy solution to this is to backup your data via PC and do a factory reset, then transfer the data back. Android behaves much better if you occasionally give it a factory reset. When you use Android, almost 90% of the time, anything that goes wrong is user error.

I've been an iOS user for about 6 or 7 years. I've essentially been there from the start. I switched from iOS to Android this year because I learned how limited you are when using iOS.

yeah i like it better than IOS in a lot of ways but this account shit is lunacy it's ok as long as you are the only one using the device
it's no good for sharing a device
they clearly did not think this through at all
if you plan on sharing a device or want to give it away after it's not good
yes i'm sure factory reset might make it run better but my other tablet is actually running better ,or maybe not i have 3rd identical tablet i just set up ,but the older one i have is actually running better, new one might get better ,i just had to update SU binary and xposed framework and modules youtube was going haywire on it, getting YT red pop up window every second , add block not working , stuttering, etc

this is why i do not want to restore it
also these are amazon tablets with custom roms
and 2 of them,(one of them is the one i want to give away) do not have TWRP
so not sure what happens when i reset to factory
can't delete primary user
afraid i will lose custom rom and or root if i restore it, i will at least lose xposed and all my sideloaded apps and settings

you have custom roms and root/su/xposed on one of them but no TWRP? (I wouldn't wan't to mess around with a rooted device with some kind of a recovery, that doesn't sound safe at all)

you could even factory reset from the android settings.

your tablet is acting weird ? might be xposed modules or installing a custom rom via TWRP without doing a full factory reset and wipe data/davlik/cache.

anyways, if you want the account gone, you need to wipe data/davlik/cache

yeah i am not going to mess with it, i have 3 tablets ,5th gen fire 7's
only 1 has TWRP but the other 2 do not because there is no boot loader unlock for the fw version the other 2 tablets came on, so i used flashfire
on those 2 ,it is a pretty safe app, from a trusted dev
this is why i do not want to delete anything or be bothered restoring and flashing shit again also have lots of sideloaded apps with data that would be hard to restore
googles account switching is just a shit mess and a pain in the ass to deal with and really complicates things
they should have had an option to switch user permissions so you can change which is the owner account at the very least

another thing that sucks is that i have to install all the apps again for the other user account and it just wastes fucking space
why should i have to install gmail chrome and all the apps all over again for another user? why cant it just fucking share the app between 2 users these tablets only have 8gb internal storage and now i can't even install any apps in the other user profile because the fucking memory is full
what a god damn piece of shit this OS is
what a fucking piece of shit ,i have to install 2 copies of the same god damn app one for each user, this is ridiculous

i had to reinstall maps and chrome for the 2nd user , i thought it was not supposed to take up double the memory but it does , i ran out of memory and a can't even install chrome
it takes up internal storage data for 2 copies of the same damn app
they really fucked this shit up royally

they didn't even bother to implement user accounts till 5.0 and when they did they did it so fucking badly that they might as well not have bothered at all
jesus fucking christ i have never seen such shit all stupid asshole developers in all my fucking life , they all neeed to be fucking fired and sent back to their own countries

Just out of interest did you try to delete your account from the settings? There should be a account option of you press on an account there you can delete it.

nope there is none , have a look
IMG_0114_1.jpg

besides i do not want to delete the main account
i just want to switch it to not be the main/owner account, but there is no way to do that
also there is no way to secure the user accounts without having to use stupid lock screen passwords , which i hate
they really made a huge mess of this
all they had to do was offer an option to be able to hand off the owner account status to another account
and an option to have it prompt you for google account passwords when switching between users
and also to have an option in app permission when logged in to the main account so you can say which user accounts can use the apps
but these people are fucking retarded and have not a lick of common sense ,i guess that is what you get when you are too god damn cheap to hire 1st world developers

now when i go tot he second user none of the apps i installed as the main user are visible
i have to go and reinstall them all over again through the play store, because these third world retards did not include a user sharing option in app permissions , and now i can't even use a second user account because there is no memory left, it makes you install the apps twice and take up twice the internal memory, i reinstalled gmail for the 2nd user and it was quick so i thought ok it's not actually redownloading the app it's just transferring permission to the 2nd user but then when i tried to DL maps and chrome it took the full DL time and i ran out of internal memory in the middle of trying to install chrome for the 2nd user

Android should have user profile support... What kind of tablet is this that you're using? Sometimes companies will take out and add in features as necessary, Samsung is really bad for this.
