That would not make any sense, if your you are using emunand you cannot install cia on Sysnand. So i don't think so.

Oh, okay. I don't really know much about EmuNAND/Menuhax, as I use A9LH/SysNAND.

I was under the impression that one of the advantages of A9LH is that you don't have to install VC games twice in order to not lose the save.

But this is wrong, then?

A9LH
If everything has gone according to plan, arm9loaderhax will be installed to your device, your RedNAND will have been copied to your SysNAND, you will no longer need RedNAND, you will have a CIA installer, and you'll be able to launch the Homebrew Launcher from an icon on your home menu. Your device will now automatically launch into CFW SysNAND.

EMUNAND
As your 3DS is setup right now, you must launch Luma3DS from the Homebrew Launcher every time you want to boot RedNAND; by the end of the guide you will boot into CFW SysNAND by default instead of having to use RedNAND

Are you answering my question or another person's question?

My question is about VC games with EmuNAND/Menuhax.

Do all VC games need to be installed twice (on SysNAND and EmuNAND) to not lose the save? Or do only GBA VC need double installation? Or is installing ONLY on EmuNAND sufficient?

Great!

Why did I think there needed to be double installation?:huh:

Was that a requirement long ago?
I would not know. Emunand is just a clone of sysnand, but with luma is a custom firmware that is loaded with patches that allowes use of installing cia files. It has nothing to do with sysnand, and unless you have a9lh you CANNOT install cia on sysnand.

Hello everyone, i am new to this forum and also noob in 3ds era.

I just bought a used Japanese version 3DS (Japanese by mistake because its cheap in Pakistan). The 3Ds is on 2.1.0-4J (Everything is in Japanese language). I need it to update on 9.2 or a firmware that support hacking without need of cart of gateway card.
Now you guys are my only hope because i searched all over the internet (i think) but not found a single way to update my 2.1.0-4J 3ds to a higher hackable firmware without buying original game cart or Gateway.
Now my question is for you guys that is there any way to update my 3Ds to a higher hackable firmware?? or no

Thank you

Unlike SNES and GB/GBC VC, GBA VC resets the system when you end with the home button, and then it saves your progress. I don't have an EmuNAND system to test on, but I recall, at least at one point, it would reset to SysNAND, and if the VC game wasn't installed on SysNAND also, it would fail to save your progress properly.

Also, you CAN install a cia to SysNAND if you're on 9.2. No?

Am I imagining all of this? :/

Since you're on 2.1.0-4, use this guide to get your console-specific OTP. Then follow the rest of that guide to set up arm9loaderhax.

@regnad You'd need to inject FBI into H&S on sysNAND in order to install CIAs, such as GBA VC.

Guessing this question belongs here.

Is there any way to access the contents of a flashcart's SD card from FBI? Basically fed up of needing to unscrew the back cover of my N3DSXL every time I want to add a new CIA and samba support is very slow.

Is it necessary for SNES VC to be installed in SysNAND since they don't reset the system when you back out? Do you know?

Ok so basically I am completely new to the 3ds hacking scene and I want to know where to get started, what I'll need and what I should be aiming for... I've heard bout stuff like installing cia or using a9lh but I don't know which is better/easier. Is it even more worthwhile to buy a flashcart? Can someone tell me where to start? Just to let you know I have an original 3ds that is 9.4.0-21E. It is an Australian 3ds (which should mean its PAL and similar to what you would find in Europe). And the games I have (I've heard sometimes you can use games to do stuff?) are ocarina of time, mariokart 7 and pokemon y.

And is it only done with pasta firmware?
To my knowledge any CFW that lets you run sysNAND (Such as rxTools, PastaCFW, MiniPasta and Luma I think) should let you install CIA's to the sysNAND, most people recommend either of the Pasta's as they are entirely sysNAND based CFW as they only boot sysNAND with signature checks patched.
