I agree with what's been said here.

There is no reason to keep the IOSU private anymore, Nintendo has already abandoned their WiiU and are focusing more on other profit-generating activities (NX, pokemon go...).

Nintendo has deceived us, players, with the low number of quality games we got for our 350 USD for a Wii U. So while Sony and Microsoft customers always get the best of the best (SFV, FF 15, Project Cars ...), the best thing we can expect from wiiu, is to see some indie game released here or there with 90s graphics...

One thing I do wonder about this scene is this:

There are known private exploits for IOSU that are not being released for whatever reason, I'm guessing these aren't being dropped because the folks that have them don't wish to turn the Wii U into a warez free for all which I'm perfectly fine with as I believe piracy "devalues" the experience you get out of a system as it becomes more about ROM chasing than actually playing.

But does that mean they intend to sit on this exploit forever and not release it?

The Wii U would be the most amazing console for emulators thanks to its level of raw grunt and the issue with the exploit coming out once Nintendo have moved on the NX (which is when I would assume they would release the exploit in order to prevent any loss via pirated sales) is that most devs focus on active systems and often don't work on the legacy range.

In that sense its sort of like the original Xbox which was a great system that became amazing once the homebrewers had their way.

Also, is the exploit they've got in the stash all you'd require to get complete access to the whole system and does it work on all firmware revisions?

Thus far I've only modded the vWii side of my machine as I have no need for whats on offer in the current Wii U scene but am curious as to the background and history of whats going on....

I totally agree, and it's why I've been working on getting some emulators done.

If you think about it.. people started posting threads countless and countless numbers of duplicits before the kernel exploit was 'leaked'. I wonder... all I know this if anyone gives you a release date *cough* July 25th *cough* they're lying.

It's not really that they're lying, just misinformed.
But yeah, unfortunately, July 25 is not a significant date.

Waiting for the iosu exploit is like waiting for a Cube World update. Nobody knows when the hell its going to happen, but it'll happen.

Not sure how much people will get that joke.
God did I love cube world. Someday...
