To get back on the topic of pride parades, I see nothing wrong with them. LGBT rights used to be so deplorable in part because the LGBT community was a hidden minority. With pride parades and people coming out of the closet came the advent of LGBT rights, so pride was inarguably very important historically. Keep in mind that members of the LGBT community were told that being LGBT is a sad, lonely, and miserable existence; pride countered this falsehood and was the first time some people realized it was a lie. While pride is less important today, it still has importance. The LGBT community is still without some basic rights, and the community is still the target of violence. People don't have to like pride parades, but I can't see how people can argue against them, aside from bringing up traffic.

They could quit whenever they wanted. It was similar to an indentured servant. That's pretty different from permanent property as far as I'm concerned. I'm not sure where you got your information, but it certainly wasn't from careful study. Sounds more like you just read an article online and decided you knew what you were talking about. I'm done discussing it though.
No, a slave could not just quit whenever he or she wanted. I'm not sure where you got your information, but it certainly wasn't from the Bible. Exodus 21:2 is very clear about the duration of some slavery as six years, the permanent ownership of a slave's wife and children in Exodus 21:4, and a loophole to keep the slave forever in Exodus 21:5-6, not to mention the known historical facts about slavery during this time period. As I already said, ownership of another human being is immoral regardless of how long that ownership lasts, and we're talking about the kind of slavery where slaves are required to obey their masters and can be beaten to within an inch of their lives according to the Bible.

To make the baseless accusation that I haven't carefully studied the topic, regardless of whether or not I'm right, tells me you're not going to listen to me no matter what I say. It tells me you care more about your existing assumption about slavery than whether or not the facts contradict it. I could be snarky too and state that your posts demonstrate the kind of surface understanding of slavery that comes solely from what a pastor commonly says during a sermon in an effort to redefine or excuse it, but I'm not going to do that. If you end up wanting to continue this conversation with an open mind and in an appropriate place, feel to PM me, Joostin.

The entire debate on LGBT+ really doesn't make much sense to me. It's mostly fueled by either religions telling you it's wrong or politics telling you that it't wrong. But at the end of the day, does it really matter? Does someone else's sexuality/gender really matter to you? Even if your religion tells you it's wrong, does that really matter? It's not like it has any effect on your life what so ever. People should really ask themselves, "Is it them who has the problem or me?" Because if some random person living their life as they see fit, bothers you that much. Well, that seems like a you problem, not a them problem.

My concern with such parades is that they emphasize the differences between groups of people. While I'm sure it's not the intention, they seem to do more to promote division instead of unity among us humans. I say have a parade to celebrate the city or something and if you wanna have a gay float, or a Christian one, or a Hispanic one, or a fans of Justin Bieber one, go ahead, and just celebrate each other together.

There's nothing wrong with celebrating diversity. It doesn't promote division. Celebrating diversity brings people closer together.

Edit: In other words, celebrating that gay is good, for example, doesn't then mean that straight is bad.

Religion and politics don't mix indeed.
Most of the blame can also be put on the people themselves.
They are mostly the ones that can't keep to themselves.

Unless you are on Tumblr, most of the LGBT+ doesn't do any of this. But people say we do.
You show an LGBT+ character on TV, "STOP SHOVING YOUR SEXUALITY/GENDER IN OUR FACES!!!"
Two lovers walk down the street holding hands, "STOP SHOVING YOUR SEXUALITY/GENDER IN OUR FACES!!!"
I work openly as a transgender girl, "STOP SHOVING YOUR SEXUALITY/GENDER IN OUR FACES!!! BTW THEY SHOULD BE FIRED BECAUSE THEY MIGHT TOUCH MY KIDS!" (This was a real paraphrased complaint about me from a person who only saw me working.)
No matter what someone does, it's "shoving their sexuality in your face." When in reality, that's not what they are doing.
There is a difference here. If you really want to see what it's like for someone to shove their sexuality/gender down your throat, go to Tumblr or look up Lizzy the Lezzy
Yeah these things happen, and you know what? you deal with it
as terrible as it sounds you can expect some backlash when dealing with something like trans people as it's a touchy subject
But i swear to god We're not all whiney little bitches that complain when you guys do anything ever at least where i come from we don't give a single fuck where you stick your dick
Two lovers walk down the street holding hands, "STOP SHOVING YOUR SEXUALITY/GENDER IN OUR FACES!!!"
in my short 17 years of life and i go to a decently sized city pretty often i have yet to ever see this sort of behaviour even our muslim community is very accepting of homosexuality

I'd recommend Modern Family and if you're more of a cartoon person Steven universe i have yet to watch the latter but i hear it has minimal censoring and even has homosexual characters in it or if you're an anime person i hear some good shit about sailor moon go watch that

Be honest on this one lately on temp there's been too many blog posts about "I'm trans, I'm gay, I'm a furry" and as i said before by people that have yet to hit puberty?!

I am not trying to argue, just pointing out that there's a difference between shows like Modern Family/Steven Universe or even 90% of the LGBT+ community and Tumblr/Lizzy the Lezzy. I use those two examples because they actually do shove their sexuality/gender down your throat and are straight up toxic for the rest of the community. I am not saying there aren't members of the LGBT+ who aren't toxic, but there's far more who aren't compared to those who are. The difference is, the ones who are toxic, just tend to be the loudest, like Tumblr/Lizzy the Lezzy.
Big cities are very different from small cities/towns. For starers, you actually Muslims who aren't afraid to go outside. Where I live, I've seen Muslims actively threatened and even assaulted. So you can picture what it's like for everyone else. I've actually been threatened for holding my boyfriend's hand in public or just straight up harassed.

As for the Blog section, I actually follow the blog section, why? IDK, I can. I hardly see any blogs about the LGBT+. I know there's several from me, but that's because I use the Blogs to vent. I don't make blogs for the community, I just make them to get thoughts out of my head when I depressed. Still, I am rambling, there's a few there, but all of them are from members who are 18+ and I am often sure the one's who claim to be 11, are most likely troll accounts made to mock the few blogs we have.

My point is that many prominent characters in media are gay, and no one raises complaints about it. Your statement was that LGBT can't get into media without people raising a huge stink about it. What about Ellen Degeneres? The Simpsons have also had gay characters. So long as the fact of "gay gay gay accept the gays!!!" Isn't shoved down people's throats, they're not going to object to it. And if they do, it's a tiny minority of older people stuck in their mindsets.

A lot of that isn't mainstream for one and two just because more people are cool or non-¢caring, doesn't mean a lot of
the hate still isn't there. Really think all these people who were against gay marriage and gay peoole in general, just disappeared? I don't think they are as tiny as you are making it.

"Shoved down people's throats". You mean like the 99.9 percent of media showing fully explicit heterosexual relationships shown?

Randomly looking up.

No idea about those parades, never seen one of them myself as I don't really care but it might be a good way to meet new people who think alike.

But as Fastest wrote on the first page I as well don't really care what genital people like to play with XD

As for me I don't know for sure as I wouldn't mind male parts down below but I still don't know if you could call that Bi as I really can't stand "guys" ... so if it is a "girl" with male parts below I don't care, as long as she looks good I might be interested ;) but I would never touch a "guy" even if he had a Vagina.

You know what's really not normal? The treatment I've gotten for being transgender. I've been stalked, harassed, nearly assaulted, I've had people lie about me in an attempt to get me fired from my job, I've gotten death threats, and so much more. I've done nothing wrong to anyone, yet so many people treat me like a threat. It's not me who is abnormal, it's how people treat me that is. I am just a normal girl living my normal life, yet somehow that upsets people.
While the treatment some people do to transgenders is bad and sad, that doesn't make transgender normal.

I would love to participate in this conversation but I do not think my brain can handle it. All I will say is you be you. Don't let no body tell you otherwise. We do not need parades to show who we are as it just hurts our status more. There also should be a day to show your pride that should be god damn fucking everyday. We're normal human beings like you.

I am just going agree to disagree, because this will end up being a debate based more on personal opinions than actual facts.

Pride is cool, but I respect humility much more. No one is any better or worse than anyone else. In my experience, it's much more difficult to stay humble in adversity, but you end up much more aware and enlightened in the end. As for LGBT+ parades, what's wrong with a parade? They're fun! Who cares what it's for, it's still entertaining to watch/participate in!

>LGBT

what about pansexual, asexual, etc. you get my point

But to be completely honest, this is like 9/11. people just won't move on. It's been like 15 years since then and we still have a day for it. USA had more horrible events but it promotes 9/11. shit like this makes me want to move back to japan tbh

I think pride parades are stupid, both for quite a few reasons that other people have already said, and I hate being around even a few people at a time.

Little offtopic maybe, but Loud House has been added to the list of "gay people in kid cartoons". I already read some people "boycotting" Nickelodeon. What are these people going to do when gay people become truly widespread in media? Just have themselves and the people around them live in some kind of impenetrable bubble? (Hint: Impossible)

To be honest I really don't care about parades or other people's sexuality. But what makes me laugh is that many people commenting here act like the pride parade's only reason is to bother them specifically. It's easy to think "I really don't care about others sexuality" and that's pretty good and stuff, the mistake is thinking everybody else thinks the same as you and with that, believe LGBT can have a normal life. True, the situation gets better every year and many LGTB folk can and are able to live a normal and open life, but there are still people who are willing to kill somebody just because that person is gay. The discrimination and hate has not disappeared.

You know, looking back, I doubt gay marriage would have even been made legal last year if it wasn't for the movement of the pride parade. So, if thousand of people blocking the traffic a single day can spark people talking about this, and with these conversations, a few people can realize to be more accepting towards LGTB people, then it's totally worth imo.
