Yeah, I have Sky Army Knife but it only sees header info of either 3dz or bin files. All my roms are 3ds format (i renamed the few 3dz to 3ds already lol). Guess ill have to test the roms to see which works with given headers once i buy a powersave and extract some of the cheapest games i can find lol.

Right. The bin file is the header. You can't know what it is until you extract it as far as I know.

.cia files are encripted .3ds files that you install on your CFW. You can play it as if you've purchased that game from the e-shop and play online without the need of a header to avoid bans
Ok. That leads into my next question. Since I have yet to buy a game I can perform a downgrade with what custom firmware is the best right now? This way I can read up on it from now until I get the game(s) to downgrade.

hi,

1. I would like to backup my save game data to PC.
What program should I install to my 3DS?

2. I would also like to do system transfer to another 3DS.
Is that save?
Both 3DS have Luma3DS CFW v11 + arm9loaderhax.

3. What is the best emulator for SNES, NES, and GB/GBC/GBA?

4. How to transfer data via WIFI from 3DS to PC, and vice versa?
I tried ftpd.cia and it failed to connect to pc.

1. You can just copy files from your SD card to your computer. If you have an emuNAND, also back it up with emuNAND9.

2. Yes, it's safe.

3. You can install them as CIAs (look on that ISO site), don't need an emulator.

4. You can use the SD card management tool from Settings, or you can install it on its own on the Home menu. Alternatives are FTPony and FTBrony.

Luma3DS is the defacto standard. Everything else is no longer developed. There is also SaltFW for a9lh only, and Corbenik for developers.

Thanks for your answer.

1. I am sorry to be unclear. What I meant was the game progress save files. I would like to continue to play in the other 3DS without playing the games from the beginning again.

4. My machine is old3DS. I do not think I can use SD card management tool from nintendo, or do I?

1. Use JKSM to backup the save files and restore to your other 3DS.
4. I think you can still install it to the home menu, but you can also use FTPony.
Edit: If your FTP app won't connect to your PC, try a different internet connection. For some reason, I can only use SD card management by tethering my computer and 3DS to my phone, it won't work with my home internet (the 3DS won't show up in Network).

Yeah, but the emulator gives you save states, which is worth having.

For many systems, the RetroArch emulators installed as cias on a N3DS work more or less perfectly.

Im on luma part 3 redNAND thing. Im stuck help please

  1. Open TinyFormat
  2. Press Y to format your SysNAND (Don't worry, everything is still saved on RedNAND)
  3. Go through initial setup without linking your Nintendo Network ID, you want it to remain linked only to RedNAND to prevent issues
  4. Reinstall menuhax on SysNAND as the format will have removed it
  5. Boot RedNAND
  6. Open System Settings
  7. If you do not see "Emu" in front of the version number, then you are not on RedNAND. DO NOT UPDATE, FIND WHAT WENT WRONG
  8. Update your RedNAND to the latest version using system settings (Once you exit System Settings / SD Card Management you will be returned to SysNAND, make sure to enter back into RedNAND before updating!)
  9. As your 3DS is setup right now, you must launch Luma3DS from the Homebrew Launcher every time you want to boot RedNAND; by the end of the guide you will boot into CFW SysNAND by default instead of having to use RedNAND
After formating the sysnand it said reinstall menuhax how do I do that?

Go back to Part 1 and look at the menuhax instructions. You boot the homebrew launcher, go to menuhax installer, and install it the same way as you did before.

For some reason, my link wasn't part of the message, so let me correct that:

By following those instructions.
Do I really need to follow part 4 & 5 after updating rednand?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

part 4 says downgrade to 2.1.0.

Luma3DS is the most noob-friendly CFW out of them all. There is this thread that can basically and hopefully answer your questions about the other CFWs.

My Friend List freezes all the time in EmuNAND, why?? And how do i fix it?!
What exactly do you mean by this? Does it get stuck on while trying to load it? How long did you wait? People report waiting 10-20~ mins and then it loaded fine. Again, I am not sure what you mean or what you are asking.

I tried mGBA to run FF5 Advance, and it is so slow and unplayable.
Is that really like that?
Did you try using Retro Arch? I am not sure you'll get better results with that, but that's something else you could try, I guess.

I am downloading it, v1.3.4

Also, I have this question athough it might not be the right thread.
I checked VC games in nintendo eshop and cannot find FF5A.
So, where does this FF5A.cia come from? is it fan made/fan compiled?

Injection - they take a similar real VC game (which contains the Nintendo-made emulator) and inject the rom of FF5. This can be done for nearly every game.
