  1. Go back to the EmuNAND file options menu in Decrypt9 (If you have one)
  2. Backup EmuNAND to emuNAND.bin (If you have one)
  3. Go to the SysNAND file options menu on the main menu
  4. Backup SysNAND to sysNAND.bin
  5. Press Select on the main menu to eject your SD card
Im not getting these points. I try to backup my emunand.bin but its not working.

it says sd is not formated for emunand backup!

used an 8gb card still same problem

It sounds like you don't have an EmuNAND. If you don't have one, as in your SD Card was never formatted with one. Then of course it's going to throw that error at you, as you are trying to backup something that doesn't exist.

try backing up the emunand with https://gbatemp.net/threads/emunand-tool-release-and-support-thread.359239/ since your SD card is really small

sysnand is backing up. Emunand part is not necessary right?

Only if you have one, but if it's telling you "SD Card not formatted for EmuNAND" then it means that you never set one up. So it'll fail. That's why the steps for that say (If you have one) - Meaning if you don't, then you skip those steps, as they don't relate to you.

i've stumbled upon an o3ds with luma5.5 on system firmware 10.7. it will let me make an internet connection in emunand, but it won't actually connect... however, if i make a connection in sysnand, it connects perfectly. any ideas?

edit: so... i don't know what happened, but after about six more attempts, it connected

Quick question regarding the Sky3DS+
Since i'm running latest New 3DS XL firmware, i need a powersave to extract a private header if i wanna play online safely.
Now, is it safe to install game update without a private header or is this considered being online and thus might get you banned?
Also, what confuses me about the private headers is that i read about the 3 different cart manufacturer, so do i need to worry about that on the Sky3DS+ and make 3 different private header config or is the private header from any game (even offline ones) good enough for all my games?
Guess the cheapest ill get by is 35 bux with a cheap 5 bux game and a powersave if any game can do and work with all cartridges.
I did think about giving someone like 10 bux to buy a private header from him (Since he could buy a 5 bux game and make some profit), but how can i fully trust anyone online right . . . unless i meet someone in my area with either a CFW 3DS or a powersave :P

Thx in advance for the info guys.

Cheerio Temers :) it's been a long time since I've been on here; like during the Wii mod years before the Wii U lol.... Anyways I just recently received a 3DS on firmware 10.7.0.32U. I would like to modify it but I don't even know where to begin reading. There are so many topics and I don't know if I should or even can downgrade it's firmware as I'm reading that FW 9.3 is best but then there's talk about custom firmware (CFW). Essentially I need some guidance to weed out the less-useful information as it's all useful to an extent and rather guide me to be able to use homebrew or flashcarts. Thanks in advance guys :)

You should be okay updating.

There are three types of header, AE, C2, and 45, but maybe 9 out of 10 are C2. The Sky will automatically inject the header, so I'd set it up with a C2, and if you're unable to go online with a specific game, manually add an AE or 45 header to that game.

Can I get specific's on what you're talking about cause my mind is thinking headers on a game which is what I usually changed in the past for SNES titles etc. I would like to modify my 3DS but I'm not sure how.

His information isn't related to you, it's related to the poster he quoted in regards to his concerns with his Sky3DS+. But basically a private header when it comes to 3DS rom dumps and flashcarts, is require to allow you to play online, without one, you will earn a temporary ban from Nintendo. CFW and using .CIAs don't have this disadvantage, but their disadvantage to people who like flashcarts and .3DS roms, is that .CIAs take too damn long to install. (Installing them overnight will basically solve this, but some people still don't like this.)

As for your post, 9.3 isn't the best FW to be on, I think you might have confused it with 9.2. Basically you want to be on 9.0 to 9.2.

Since you are on 10.7.0-32U, you'll need a cartridge based exploit to downgrade, as there is no free method to downgrade on that firmware.

Your options are Cubic Ninja, Freakyforms Deluxe, or Ocarina of Time + Powersaves.

Once you manage a cartridge based exploit, you'll probably want to do a system format to avoid soft-bricking as described here.

From there, you'll want to follow this guide to downgrade.

Ok, its what i was suspecting for headers and using C2 is the best bet since its most common. I just though maybe Sky3DS+ was slightly different and that info was for the older blue button one since post i read were pretty old.
Now, how do i go about knowing if a game is C2, 45 or AE? Is there a list that says which games is which, coz from my understanding its possible in some case to get the same game cartridge from 2 different manufacturers . . .
Is the only option to go buy a new game thats real cheap and verify it by extracting the rom then?

A temporary ban huh. How long does it take if you're banned to become unbanned and does it eventually lead to a perma-ban?

Thanks for the information. I'll check to see if GameStop has any of those games. In your opinion which one is the easiest?

It takes a bit long to install .cia games yes, but it's not THAT long. It took me like 30 minutes to install Fire emblem Fates [1,77GB .cia]

Pretty sure this thread can help you out on figuring out if the game is C2, 45 or AE.

I believe that yes, it does eventually lead to a perma-ban, however, I am not too sure on this.

The easiest? Probably Cubic Ninja. Freakyforms Deluxe, requires you to unlock the QR code option, so you'll have to actually play the game.

While Oothax (Ocarina of Time + Powersaves) - Should still be somewhat easy to get installed, but def not as easy as Cubic Ninja.

You'll probably find Cubic Ninja much easier than Freakyforms Deluxe, as Freakyforms Deluxe was scalped hard, so you'll probably have to pay outrageous prices for it online.

I am fully aware that .CIA games don't really take that long. However, you should see the .3ds vs .cia debates some people have. You just can't convince those people that the time to install .cia files is not that bad. And those people probably don't even buy their games. I take longer to install my games, as I have to dump them to .3ds, then convert them to .cia, then install them. But meh.

It's been a while since I did it, but if I'm not mistaken an application called Sky Army Knife will tell you the manufacturer.

The absolute easiest and cheapest way, if this is an option for you -- and I suspect it's not -- is to use a system on 9.2 or lower, and the Gateway software. Then it's free. Do you have a few legit games? Just keep extracting, and you'll eventually have all three, but if you have C2, you're mostly squared away.

You don't need to own the game. You can just borrow from a friend who doesn't own a Sky and will never use the header himself.

Yeah, I have Sky Army Knife but it only sees header info of either 3dz or bin files. All my roms are 3ds format (i renamed the few 3dz to 3ds already lol). Guess ill have to test the roms to see which works with given headers once i buy a powersave and extract some of the cheapest games i can find lol.

What exactly is a cia file? and how does that differ from playing off a flash card?
.cia files are encripted .3ds files that you install on your CFW. You can play it as if you've purchased that game from the e-shop and play online without the need of a header to avoid bans
