I'm able to replicate slow (8-10s) load speeds in Australia: WebPageTest - Most likely this is because GBAtemp's main endpoint is hosted in France, and the links between France and Australia are famously slow.
Until something more concrete can happen, to speed things up try using Opera Turbo (or whatever it's called now) which will at least take care of some of the render blocking static assets. The latest developer builds of Opera also contain built in VPN functionality which will also help.
EDIT: Guys, take a look at the flag before posting "it's fast for me" - Page performance is more about region and latency than it is upload/download speed.
EDIT2: Also looking more closely at the asset download waterfall chart, it looks like ad download has a significant impact on performance - Please don't kill me for saying this, but would you mind trying it with an ad blocker and seeing if that has any impact?

You can deactivate your Adblock here. The ads here are small and static and mostly from the NDs - card. (And it would help the site...)i'm always using an ad blocker. sorry temp but i like my net the way i like my movies = AD FREE
