I've been having some wackiness with my softmodded PSPgo.
I'm using OFW 6.60 and the Pro-B 6.60 Pro-B10 mod. I never updated to 6.61 just because I've heard it makes things a little wonkier. But anyway...

Everything has been working for several years with this mod. Now, I moved to a new house a year and a half ago. I had my PSPgo, but I lost my data transfer cable during the move...which means, I can't charge the PSPgo, nor can I transfer stuff to it from the computer.
Well, I finally got off my ass and bout a month or two ago, bought a 3rd party transfer cable from Ebay. At first, I only used it to charge the PSPgo. Worked perfectly in charging.
Playing the games that were already on the PSPgo worked fine too. No problem.
Within the past week, I've been putting games on there to play different ones.
This is where the problem starts.

I had put on there Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles and Gurumin. Played Castlevania for 10 minutes or so and it crashes. Now, about the only time I've ever had the PSPgo crash is when playing an emulator, and the ROM is bad or whatever.
It crashes, but this time, the system won't turn on or reboot. I push the power switch up and the green light comes on for a second, and then goes off. Tries it several times and nothing. Wait an hour and force reboot it by holding up on the power switch and it goes on.
Open up the B-Pro Updater, hit X and it goes back into CFW mode.
Try Castlevania again, bring up Symphony of the Night, and it crashes again. This time though, it freezes for 20 seconds or so and then when it crashes, the blue and green lights on the screen itself flash. Wait a while and am able to power it on again.
Try Gurumin and it won't even start. Just reboots. If I recall correctly.
This time, I try and uninstall Castlevania and Gurumin from the PSPgo. Can't delete them because they're corrupted data. But also at the same time I installed those 2 games, I also installed Sid Meier's Pirates and something else...I forget. Activision Classics? Anyway, I'm able to Delete those two games fine, but food for thought, I never started them up and had them crash. Maybe that's important?

So now, I'm using my 3rd party cable to hook it up to the computer...which is Windows 10. Prior to this, using Windows 8 and Windows 7, I never had any problem hookming up the PSPgo to the computer. I would have the cable plugged into the computer. Plug it into the PSPgo and it woudl automatcially enter USB mode and all would be happy.
Now, more times than not (it works sometimes) I'll have the cable plugged into Windows 10, plug it into the PSPgo, and the PSPgo will freeze and crash. Okay. I'll plug it into the PSPgo first, then enter USB mode, then plug it into the computer...nope.
Once in blue moon when it does work, it will be plugged into both places and I'll have to manually set it to USB mode. Won't do it automatically.

And I've been having problems with emulators as well. For instance the SNES emulator I use. Has always worked fine...with the exception of a few bad ROMS...but I try playing games I know to work, games I've played on the PSPgo a million times, and it will crash. Haven't tried every emulator, but that one in particular.

So, I've been looking on here and people have been saying it depends on the game itself, where you got it from...etc....or it could be the cables.
Well, 95% of all the games i have digitally are from physical games I own. I have a huge PSP collection. I've ripped them myself and prior to this, they all worked fine. Castlevania worked perfectly before. No problems. Now granted, all of these games were uncompressed. Never had any problems, so why bother compressing them?
So yeah, the cable...3rd party cable from Insten...could it not be transferring the complete data? Well, that woould explain the corrupt data...but would that cause other things to crash? and for it to crash when hooking it up to the computer? Does Windows 10 not like the PSPgo?
Quick sidenote, I did find my official data cable a few weeks back, but now, I don't know where it went to...*LOL* I will have to find it again.
But really, could the cable cause all of these problems?

I should also say that all of this is on the internal 16GB memory. I do not have any of the M2 memory cards for the PSPgo.

So in short, the only 'new' things I've done since I've gotten the cable are install a GBA emulator, and that worked fine...install several games known to have work in the past and have them fail, and that's really all.

I really hope that this doesn't mean that my PSPgo is on the edge of death. I tried this morning to plug it into the computer and remove these games...and it crashed again. Took me until I got to work before it would power on properly. Blah. Sorry for this being so long.

Okay, I've been doing some experimenting and I think maybe I've figured out what's making the games crash out.
I'll post a video here in a sec.
Playing a couple of games...Mega Man Powered Up and Exit. They played perfectly for a while. Long time. Like 20 minutes Wouldnt' crash while I was filming. Of course...nothing bad happens while filming. *L* After I stopped filming each time, they crashed. But I think it is due to a button combination. I did it like 3 times for each game and it worked. It's either pushing O (holding down) and then X, or pushing O and X at the same time.
That seems to make the games crash out.
Weird because that has never happened before this last batch of crashes.
Is O + X a button combo that activates something in the CFW? or any other program?

And it's weird because that probably wouldn't explain the corruption of the games. Or would crashing out of a game alter the data to make it corrupted and not able to be deleted?

Anyway, here's the video: Notice when the crash happens, the two lights on the screen flash.

PS, sorry about the kids in the background. They wanted to watch Curious George.

I'd agree with Dinoh. Infinity is your best bet. Just charge the battery before doing anything and you should be fine.

Okay, I've been doing some experimenting, and maybe I have some things figured out. Maybe not.
Here we go.

On the issue of the PSPgo not wanting to turn back on, I think that may be a battery issue. I'm thinking maybe a loose battery connection or something.
If didn't want to turn on...green light would come on for a second and then turn off. Hmm....drained battery? But it showed it was full when I was playing it. So, I plug it in, and it is fully charged in 5 minutes. Which means it wasn't drained. But after I unplug it, it turns on fine. So, I'm going to chalk it up to a bad battery connection or something.
Now if only there were any sites that sold official Sony batteries....oh well.

Now for the big daddy. The crashing whenever I push X+O at the same time.
I am definitely thinking this is a problem with the CFW. This is using 6.61 Pro-C2
Previously, I was using 6.60..so I decided to upgrade to 6.61. Installed Pro-C2. Booted up Snes9x Euphoria for my emulation needs...pressed X+O and it crashes the PSPgo.
Boot up Dgen Lite, and do it again, crashes.
Boot up Mega Man Powered Up, and do it, and it crashes.
Boot up the first Wipeout (one I ripped myself) and nothing happens. It won't crash. Plays fine.
Boot up Monster Hunter Freedom (that I ripped myself) and it is fine. No crashing.
Boot up Wild Guns PSX (one I downloaded) and it won't crash.

I eventually try it on my PSP 3000 with all of the exact same reactions. Crashing on emulators and Mega Man, but not on ones I Ripped, or other games.

And here is why I assume it is the CFW. I used CFW Pro 6.39 for the longest time without any problems at all. I upgrade to 6.60 on my PSPgo, and it starts all the crashing.
Now, my PSP 3000, unfortunately, I still have the Pro-CFW 6.39 on the mem card, but had upgraded the OFW to 6.60, so I can't test 6.39.
Upgrade to 6.61, and it still crashes. So, that's why I'm assuming it is a problem with 6.61 CFW

The other common thing, and I could be wrong, is that all of the programs that crash are at Parental Level 1.
Everything else that doesn't crash is at like Level 4 to 9.
Also, it appears that every PSP game I personally ripped, is fine. No crashing. But stuff I downloaded, some of them, are ones that crash.
So, could it also be a parental level issue? Is there any way to change the Parental level on an already existing game?
Would like to experiment some more, but I hate having it crash.
Is there anything in CFW 6.60 and 6.61 that would utilize the X+O button presses to make the system crash?
Or if it is Parental levels, is there something in the software I can tinker with so that it won't crash with parental level 1 things?

Thanks.
