I use paint.net for all of mine. Mostly because it was the first free thing I found with layers and a magic wand tool. :P
I tried editing textures but every edit i made made the texture look super weird. Idk what I did wrong.

Could you go a little in depth on that? I have to wear the costume, save, then ???
If it's anything like fire emblem awakening, then you need to dump the rom, find the texture corresponding to the costume, and rename it to the regular texture file while renaming the original texture name to the name of the costume. This will make it so when you would normally wear the costume, it'll be the regular clothes, and vice versa.

Hi, I'm trying to make my own custom 3d model in blender but when I import the .obj file in ohana sends me an error

EDIT: Solved, my problem was the number of faces

Are Braixen and Delphox' textures uneditable? Neither of them will open properly in the editor for me. - I redumped the game too and it still didn't open them. Both normal and shiny textures are affected and I just get a window saying "Sorry, something went wrong." Then when I reopen the models tab they have their specular map textures on the models but there's nothing I can do with them.

They're dec_7101, 7102, 7109 and 7110 (for Alpha Sapphire), if anyone is able to check this issue? ~ although, if they can't be editted could the files from XY be used instead?

Could just be a bad extraction and/or dump.

I'll try the whole process again tomorrow and see if I get them, but I feel like if it was a part of the extracction gone wrong I couldn't have delphox's model loading fine when it's filenumber is between the problem files. I had a look around online to see if people had editted braixen / delphox previously and found nothing though, so is this a known issue?

Yea, I've tried everything now, their textures do not open for life nor love. :c And I don't have enough space on my 3ds to redownload X to see if they work on that. No sure why 653 pokemon went just fine and now there's 2 that don't. I'm guessing there's some effect to them that ohana3ds doesn't like.


EDIT: Literally after posting that I was just like... that ohana3ds doesnt like... lets redownload it and try, and the new version opened the files immediately. But it won't export the files. :s atleast I can view them?

Huh, I just tried it, and like you said, it won't load Braixen or Delphox's files at all. The XY version of the textures work fine in Ohana3DS, but those didn't work in ORAS (the game just crashed when it tried to load them). The ORAS files do open in Ohana3DS Rebirth, but that's not much use, since it can't edit textures. :unsure:

Well thanks for letting me know it's not just me. If you replace all 8 files for braixen and delphox in oras with their xy counterparts do they load? (Did you try all of them or just the texture files? As just the textures should fail as I think the naming system changed, so atleast the model needs to swap with them.)
And yea, you can't even import over the files in rebirth to just replace them with custom -near- counterparts. s: I think I might have to say only 719/721 pokemon are editted when I release my patch. s:

Yeah, I would have tried replacing 7099 - 7114, and seeing if they loaded okay then.
And failing that, just doing 7099, 7101, 7102, 7107, 7109 and 7110. Although, I think if the model is even slightly different and you do those 6 it'll probably completely glitch out, because that's what I done with mega gyarados a week ago, and this was the result:

Damn, thanks for trying that for me though! I would have had to buy a bigger sd card just to check this myself for my download copy of X, so you saved me that trouble. I'll probably see if I can find another (fire) pokemon and import my rough custom files and try to hex edit the files to replace them, but I'm going to finish the pokedex first I think before playing about with all that.

I guess this is bad news for when gen 7 comes out too, I imagine if you can't trade models for the same pokemon, within the same generation, then it's asking a lot more to get new pokemon from gen 7 to work in gen 6 games.


EDIT: Holy cow bags I think I did it! I'm not sure what I done differently that time, but it saved my textures and imported. And I closed everything down after, then reopened 7101 and 7109 as containers, extracted the files and checked the textures and my edits are there! Hopefully they load in game without causing a crash now! =D I'll leave the garc repacking overnight and load them in to check them in the morning.

Look at that success. I had to train against wild pokemon in early routes for an hour to evolve my fennekin, convinced it'll freeze at the end of it all, but it worked! Nothing major changed in the design though, just fluffier ears and a wood texture on the wand for now, I didn't want to risk changing the file size too much after previous issues.
