Yes you can get free DLC if your 3DS is on 9.2 and has emuNAND on it. Just look up Smash Bros DLC cia and you'll find it eventually.
Why are you people saying it isn't possible? I got all of my DLC for free. It's not that hard to help someone out. Geez.

on wiiu you can repalce a normal character with a dlc character but that is about it.
I just realized when I scrolled up lol I'm an idiot. I have notifications set up for both the Wii U and 3DS threads so I got confused. XD
You're not going to find it for free unless there's a method for installing pirated content. Even then that's not really free but rather "free".
How is it overpriced? I'd agree with the semiported stages, but characters fit in the average price for fighting games.
Pay the goddamn DLC if you want to use it.
Given the development time and resources involved in making those DLC character, hell no. $50 for a few extra characters to an already made game is utterly ridiculous. That's the price of a full fucking game. Just because some other games have gotten away with that shit doesn't make it ok.

You can. You just need to patch the game in a way it unlocks the DLC Character selection screen (works for the stages too).
Do it manually or download an already made patch.
With the legit Disc : use SDCaffiine to replace files.
With Loadiine : just paste the files in your SSB dump.
