The rice thing is actually something of an urban legend. I mean, it might help a tiny bit, but not to the extent that people think it does. If that were the case, you'd have difficulty storing it without sealing it in a vacuum.

I doubt it helps for anything beyond the surface water on the device, but hey, it's worth a shot.

Water doesn't necessarily destroy electronics. Water + electricity definitely does.

Yes, I always tell people this. But surprising how many people try to turn shit on after water damage.

I once swam 2 hours in the ocean with my Iphone in my trunks, and just put the iphone in a bowl of rice for a few days and it turned back on with no issues.

Do not use rice instead you should use a gallon of mountain dew to turbo charge it and make it evolve into a NX.
but for real you should just give it afew days and use this tutorial. git gud.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo won't fix a water damaged 3DS anyways so you're probably better off just buying a refurb or something.

I just recently fixed a 3DS that supposedly sat in a puddle out in someone's yard for a week. Granted the battery was shot and so was the digitizer and both screens. But they are salvageable.
