In any case, I'm doing more testing with my Anker USB adapter, and I think I can rule that out as the culprit now. It's going to come down to my hardmod or the SD adapter it uses, but that still wouldn't explain why the Gateway menu consistently fails to restore a dump.

I am in your same boat. However, I hope someone could make Gateway .sav convertable to .cia saves so I do not have to go backup to my sysNAND 9.2 to do it, as I on updated sysNAND
It's possible with SaveDataFiler and another process. There's a guide somewhere on GBAtemp for that, I'll see if I can find it.

Not the most practical solution, but I've been using NTR savegame plugin to transfer out saves from Gateway to cia or Sky3DS+. I find that it is the most reliable way.
This Gateway Drama sure has been long and disappointing. For anyone who're gonna leave their Gateways to the dust, I'll repeat that I accept donations of Gateway carts. XD hahaha!

As GW user,i hope that this is an alpha and we will have a good version. They can force the user to enter their Gateway cart before using the A9LH installer... Or before downgrading to 2.1... Because if the downgrade tool is free, anyone will downgrade with it and use an open-source installer and enjoy luma... This is pathetic.
Anyone can downgrade to 2.1, get OTP and install A9LH. Even without Gateway's downgrade, because it's basically the same as PlaiSysUpdater and OTP Helper... None of the tools released are revolutionary, so there's no reason for someone to rely on Gateway for A9LH.
Yes,i know that is a beta but... A release like that would be very stupid... Because anyone can do it,with or without GW... If they want , they can create a A9LH installer for each customer,but that lock hasnt any sense.
Well, if they do or don't is still up in the air, but I have good news: I managed to get out of the situation by using FBI to install NATIVE_FIRM from 9.3, so that removed their A9LH, but now I need to downgrade that one title. A small tradeoff, though.

I do the gateway process on a N3DS euro which i flash back my to nand to orignal firm 9.0 before and follow step by step and no brick for me
I don't get why people are going bonkers over the beta/alpha test releases. Nothing is final yet, although I have turned my o3ds to a9lh with ease already, my new 3ds is still booting gateway through menuhax, just fine.
So hopefully, Gateway won't screw this up in the end. :B

Well downgrading to 9.0 may work fine because its using current methods so its brick chance is the same.
Let him try isntalling A9LH on his N3DS with that tool and if he says he didnt brick thats 100% BullShit
As long as they finally add GBA/DSi and NDS card support on Emunand while using the (old) Menuhax booting method, I wont even bother with a9lh (neither Luma nor GWs)
