Something weird just happened. I've activated the 3D Rendering upscale (2), and when I exited the game it locked up on the Wii U Menu screen. :wtf:
Only drawback is that when you try to exit the game from Loadiine/Mii Maker, it loops eternally in the 'Wii U" loading screen, but that can be bypassed by just turning off the console.

its probably because the WFC servers were shut down a long time ago, so there's really nothing to connect to (officially).

No offense to Nintendo, but releasing an MK game without online features seems kind of like a waste of 10 dollars. Glad i never got it on the eShop.

It's not worth the price IMO.
If they could have at least added the filter options for the 3D models, I would consider buying it.
But seeing how awful it looks on the TV screen, I avoided DS eShop titles at all costs.
I prefer injection+modifying the json file.

What games can do that safely, and how, if I might ask? I'm tempted to filter games like Dragon Quest V and VI, MKDS, Super Mario 64, etc, can they be upscaled safely?

Glad I can play it on Loadiine instead :P

All games can be filtered without any major issues other than the exit bug I mentioned.
I played SM64 DS, Metroid Prime hunters and the two Zeldas with Render Scale =2 and I haven't got any problems yet.
I also played Chrono Trigger but that one doesn't have 3D models haha

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Maybe the reason they didn't implement the 3D rendering was because they couldn't make it work and encountered the same problem with the Wii U Menu screen.
Maybe, but I heard @dimok also stumbled upon the same bug with Mario kart 8 with updates I think.
So I don't know what it might be, but that's most likely it, and if that's it, then it only solidifies how lazy they were when making the emulators.

Hmm, doesn't sound like it's worth it though, I could've sworn a lot of games had problems with changing the rendering a while back? Maybe I misread something someone said, and I really wish Snes games could have different filtering/scaling options, but looks like that's pretty much impossible at this point

Not really.
I have tried like 10 or so games with the rendering and they work fine, it's just that you can't go back to the Home menu from those because it hangs at the Wii U Loading screen, but it saves okay even if you power it off by force when this happens.

The only thing that doesn't seem to work is combining both RenderScale and PixelArtUpscaler, I think it simply doesn't boot or is way too slow. (I think it's the second).

I say give it a shot, if you don't like it, simply disable them.

Er, that second part was referring to Snes VC games in Loadiine, the black borders and lack of filtering. What I don't get is NES games are clearly filtered, DS games can be, GBA games can be, but why not Snes? Like, what I mean is Dimok told me he has no Snes games to test, therefore, it's pretty much impossible of making them look better in Loadiine. That's what I was saying.

it's not impossible, it's just tedious and requires quite some work.
It'd be a matter of decompiling the .rpx file with IDA or something to know or find what part is in charge of the video output size and the filtering, thats it.
I bet it has to be in the first hundreds bytes of the rpx file. :P

Ugh O.O That's gonna be an absolute nightmare though, I wouldn't know where to begin :P

Neither do I that's why I haven't done it.

I'm looking at Kirby's Dream Land 3 using HxD hex editor and I found something interesting in the code itself towards the top, from

offset 000005E0 to 00000690

Code:
C:\jenkins\vessel\Vessel\branches\1.0.0\Emulator\Reality\WiiU\Common\bin\CAFE\Release\WUP-JANE\WUP-JANE.rpx.CAFE_OS_SDK_REVISION.43273.CAFE_OS_SDK_VERSION.20811.BUILD_TYPE.NDEBUG

I don't think there is anything bad in there as it shows merely versions and nothing that can be used to decrypt information, only emulator info I think? Not sure what it means, but I'm surprised there was anything legible in there.

I think that just has to do with info of the current version of the emu and SDK used for the released, as well as the path/directory to the RPX file to boot it.
You used HxD with the WUP-JANE.rpx file?

Crap...I'm trying to look through the code, because my PC has no such folder, and it's on another HDD, which I used to dump this game. *sigh*

I'm at a loss.

The specific folder shouldn't matter though, as long as you got the files. :P

Still doesn't help though, looking through texture2D_206.gsh looks really weird, I see something about texture coordinate, black, y, x, A, no idea what it all means, and a bunch of Ys for some reason. Sorry, maybe I'd best make a thread about this.

The emulator settings MUST be inside the RPX file.
I'm almost sure of it.

The other files are just textures, images and other options for the main GUI, so I don't think those are important.

Let me know if you do the thread.

You're right there. Unfortunately, there's little they can do besides bring the Nintendo WFC back. I can't see them spending the money to do that.
They could make the emulator connect to Nintendo Network.
