ok guys i really see A9LH is better i know i know, i just have to sit down and go through tutorial and see if i can do it. I guess I will get a refurbished N3DS from gamestop this weekend (maybe will have older firmware) and attempt after studying the guide
Depending on when it was traded in it could be fully updated. Make sure you turn it on and check. The highest I have seen someone get on a new system is 10.3 and that can be downgraded without a game

Okay guys after I read all these things about A9LH what would you do ? I have 3 offers for buying a New 3DS.

New 3DS black (Firmware 10.7...) + charging cable + bag + 32GB Sandisk + Sky3DS blue + bought on April 2015 ---> 140€

New 3DS black (Firmware 9.9.0-26E) + bought on May 2015 ------> 115€

New 3DS black (Firmware 9.9.0-26E) + charging cable + bag + without guarantee ---> 110€

So with Sky3DS blue it would be easier to downgrade and use A9LH? Or easier to restore when I do something wrong?

With 9.9 you just have to do the browser bypass and you can downgrade without a game. That being said I do like having cubic ninja around as it is the best exploit game. I would take the one with the sky as the chargers are 10 by themselves, plus 8 for a 32gb sd card, so that would put the one without the sky in the same price range

If you do something wrong during A9LH setup, your 3DS could be bricked or stuck in 2.1. This only happens to people who don't follow the guide correctly (like forgetting to check if WiFi is switched on on N3DS). Once A9LH is set up, you'll have a NAND backup and can alway restore this (except when you fuck up and overwrite A9LH - always read the guide!).

For downgrading, you'll need an entrypoint. Cubic Ninja, OoT, Webbrowser. The last one is fixed on the latest firmwares, so you'll need the games. OoT would require a save injector or someone with an already hacked 3DS to help you out. Sky3Ds of course could replace the original Cubic Ninja or Ocarina of Time cards.

Edit:
128GB microSDs are like €40 right now on amazon.

The wifi issue isn't a problem anymore. People figured out pulling the battery out for a few min resets it so the wifi turns on.

probably, but its gamestop refurbished, but i doubt the person working at the store would actually boot it up and update firmware after cleaning it before packing it up right?

If its refurbished that's not the same as used. A refurb gets sent out. The chance of it being updated on used comes from whoever traded it in. As for refurbished fw it would depend on when they did it as I'm sure updating it is part of the refurbishing process

You never know, OCDs can be a bitch :lol:. Just ask them if you can check it out before buying. Nothing wrong with a test drive.

So what of these 3 options would be the cheapest option for me?

Im thinking of following:

Using Sky3DS blue for downgrading to 9.2 . Then selling Sky3DS blue & 32GB MicroSD Card for 30-40€ so in the End I would get an 3DS for 100-110€. :)

Btw. I heard about another option to play games online.....something about "tik." files.

I would go with the sky bundle. You can sell the sky after or keep it and always have an exploit game if your friends need one. The .tik files let you download the games from the eshop instead of installing a CIA.

"tik." files are a way to turn the official eshop into a warez site. Good if you have super stable wifi at home. (I don't, so it's mostly cias.)

Also, have patience when you do downgrade/add CFW to an n3DS - the software is pretty buggy. I spent at least 1/3 more time trying to get things to work in my n3DS.

Should have a decent speed (nothing extreme though), beware of fakes. Depending on which and how many games you want, I'd say at least 32GB, though they have become really cheap lately. I got my 128GB for €45. 3DS only takes FAT32, you can find dozens of tools online to format it if it came formatted in ExFAT (which the 3DS can not handle).

I use a 128 gb - it does have noticeable slowdown upon boot - takes a while for all the icons to load, but it's still pretty good. I got mine for $43 Canadian, but it's not a brand name. :)

Basically, everything SDHC/SDXC comes formatted exFAT - so reformat it with tools that you can get.

    I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.

    It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

    @Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
    Man, that's beyond my brain :rofl: I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

    Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.

    Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
