So, I heard about this tool called Cafiine, which can access the files of Wii U games and edit them.

I want to edit Mario Kart 8's AI parameters, and this tool makes it possible, but how do I do it with this tool exactly? I exploited the system already so I'm not a noob.

Example of the hack working.

I can load the kxploit and then Cafiine however I can't connect it with my PC ([IP]:7332) because it freezes at the start of the web browser. (5.5.1, Cafiine, not SDCafiine)

• launch caffiine on wiiu
• launch caffiine server on PC
• put PC IP in wiiu and start caffiine
• stuff goes in the caffiine root folder or something (ex cafiine/server/cafiine_root/00050000-[titleid]/vol/content/ or something like that)
• ???
• mods

Can you elaborate on this part? Where do you put your IP address + what do you mean "start cafiine" What file?
Launch caffiine from the Wii U web browser (there are a million ways to do that) and it will ask you for an IP address. Enter the PC's IP address into the Gamepad to connect it to the cafiine server which should be on and running on the PC.

When I launch the kexploit and then cafiine it just takes me to the Wii U home screen. I'm using the AtLongLast.zip files leaked a while ago.

edit: the links on that site are causing freezes so idk if I'm clicking the right ones or what

It might be launching SDCafiine instead, which doesn't require a PC but does require an SD card and a game that uses SD cards (ex Smash Bros.)
Try putting files in SD:/00050000[titleid]/ and see if they get patched in

No matter what I click it freezes, am I missing something @MissingNO123
It seems like anything over the internet is super unstable right now, selfhosting is the best (or maybe the only) option.

It's definitely not doing that, but it's not taking me to any screen to input the IP address at all. I guess I might have something set up wrong on my computer but I'm not sure :/

I'm also having issues getting the original Cafiine to work. I tried following the directions on the Definitive Guide to Wii U hacking, but I get stuck on Step 4 because the page won't load while the server gives a "Not Interested" error message. I load the required kernel exploit and tried the alternate instructions from an above post:

• launch caffiine on wiiu
• launch caffiine server on PC
• put PC IP in wiiu and start caffiine
• stuff goes in the caffiine root folder or something (ex cafiine/server/cafiine_root/00050000-[titleid]/vol/content/ or something like that)
• ???
• mods

but the Internet Browser freezes before I can try to connect the server to the Wii U. Basically, either the server won't function at all, or the Wii U will freeze upon booting a game or system application.

Okay so I'm getting a new error. I run kexploit and then cafiine and it takes me to the home screen and everything runs extremely slow but eventually does load (like the internet browser for example.) I thought I was frozen before. I tried running cafiine.bin again and it says I must run ksploit before installing Cafiine, even though my Wii U is exploited. I seriously have no clue what to do at this point and it's annoying

Is there a database with games and mods usable with Cafiine ?
Prety sure 99% of all games work with net Cafiine, and most games that use the SD Card should work with SDCafiine
It would be better to make a list of games that don't work with cafiine or SDCafiine

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
