are you sure you changed the correct bytes? Look at this pic for reference, in order to find the correct placement of the bytes:
lucina_character_cropped-png.24744

(Note: this is not my picture. I found it here.)
Yes I did, it still didn't work as to the type of parental roles Robin and Lissa had, as they're still opposite roles to each respective child.
Edit: Nvm, there are multiple values, which ones can I find to be completely sure to swap? And I still can't find them... >.<

Im curious does the hack include. Male Robin x donnel s support and a donnel x ricken s support?
You can S-support them, you just won't have an S-Support dialogue given.
Actually, I don't think you can. MaMU/Donnel isn't in the list of added supports, and Ricken's only gay option is Henry.

I hope its added in on a later update or something. If possible i wouldnt mind writing/coding it. I just dont know where to start.

Is the gay awakening hack still being worked on by UV or is it as far as it goes? I know the Gay Fates hack is still in progress and if more people are needed to help work on both i wouldnt mind doing a couple of supports.

She's still working on it!

I can make a custom gamedata.bin for you with both pairings, if you want.

And if you want to learn how to code, it's not too hard. For Awakening, there's actually a program that does it for you...
...except it makes some mistakes, so you'll have to fix the support later. The mistake is this: it adds "$k\n$Wmクロム|$w0|$Wsクロム|$Wa$E通常|" everytime, but you'll have to manually delete the "$Wmクロム|$w0|" part. Everytime. Except for the first time. Also, characters will appear one at a time unless you know how to edit the code. To make both appear at the same time, I use "$t1$Wmヘンリー|7$Wmリヒト|3$w0|$Wsリヒト|$Wa$E通常|" (change the names, of course).
Use FEITS to check if the dialogue fits in the box, and this guide to understand how coding convos works.

If its not to much trouble i would appreciate it. Thank you.

Sorry, I said gamedata.bin but I meant static.bin... I got confused with Fates.
Anyway, here it is! c: Let me know if it works fine. I added MaMU/Donnel and Donnel/Ricken.

Is there a guide which starts with a .3ds ROM file and goes through what you need to do to unpack it, patch it, and pack it again?

I was interested in this as well. Once you've figured out how to get the Xorpads, unpacking is very straight forward. I found this tool was the easiest method of doing everything.

http://www.maxconsole.com/maxcon_forums/threads/285574-3DS-To-CIA-Converter-v4-1

...Or not, all the text is missing now. Oh the tool I used has crtool. That's apparently known to have issues with Fire Emblem Awakening: http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=52377&page=21#entry3774554

Still 3DS Builder keeps giving me encryption errors.

What I did was
-- get a .3ds file
-- use the tool you described, which produces a romfs.bin file
-- use "RomFS Extractor" on it
-- The result is "Not a valid romfs binary".

I don't know what it going on, I need a step by step guide. I don't know at what step (if any) to do decrypting or obtain a xorpad. I also don't know at what step, if any, to use Japanese locale; also the tool requires msvcr71.dll, which supposedly requires the .net redistributable 1.1. Of course installing this showed that it doesn't actually contain a msvcr71.dll. I had to get the file from a backup of an old Windows installation.

I need real help here, and *none* of the guides I can find seem to be of any use. Every guide seems to use the same assumptions as every other guide; nobody actually started with a .3ds.

Almost there thanks to this tutorial: https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-how-to-decrypt-extract-rebuild-3ds-roms.383055/

You need HackingToolkit3DS, the instructions are very straightforward. The first option will unpack the .3ds file into its folders. Make sure the .3ds filename has no spaces, this tripped me up! After that place the patch in the ExtractedRomFS folder (you'll know it's the right place if it asks to overwrite some files) and rebuild the RomFS.bin in RomFS Builder. Then pay attention to the Rebuilding for HANS instructions only with one caveat. The patch was designed for the USA regions file directory I think, so when it asks you to rename "RomFS.bin" to "TitleID.romfs" use the USA title ID 000A0500 as explained here: http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=58826&p=4107957

So just set the save destination of RomFS Builder as 000A0500.romfs, but of course we need the file to be a .3ds so we should probably use the Part 2: Rebuild your Rom. Here is where I am so far. I was hoping just changing the serial from the EUR to USA version would work, but Citra says the game is encrypted again somehow. I did manage to rebuild romfs.bin so I'm going to try to do some Hex editing to change that TitleID. Tried that, still encrypted. I guess I need to decrypt again for some reason.

Hey, sorry to bother you again! I've done everything I could think to do; I have completed the guides, my 3ds is homebrewed, but when I go to hans, it crashes, just like ciarre's did. I've followed the link you posted for their problem. I'm using oot3dhax. The file listed, menuhax_ropbinpayload.bin, doesn't exist on my SD card--if it does, I must be missing it. It's not on the root. I even tried starting completely over, but no luck! Any idea what could be going on?

EDIT: Fixed! Thanks a ton!

Okay, so I should avoid using the "3ds to CIA converter" then?

Also, is it ever necessary to use Japanese locale? I assume to be able to use filenames with Japanese characters I need to, is there anything else that needs it?

I haven't seen anything that would be affected by locale. We're dealing with Region 1 releases anyway. 3DS to CIA converter uses crtools. I got it to build but the text was invisible.

Right, but the Awakening patch contains filenames that have Japanese characters in the name. If you're going to put those files into the .3ds you have to be able to handle filenames with Japanese characters. Besides, I was going to try to modify them myself and I'd have to be able to handle them as files.

Just tried it, no difference. Still invisible text. God damn this is frustrating. I'm convinced that the problem lies with 3DS Builder altering the ExHeader somehow.

I'm stuck with 2 halves of different puzzles. 3DS to CIA Converter builds working .3ds but can not build the .bin properly. HackingToolkit3DS can build working .bin I'm told but can not build a working .3ds.

I installed this using the video tutorial on the Fates thread and it worked just the same. I'm looking forward to F!Robin/Lucina support convos ehe.
