Is ModMii Classic still working? Everytime I open it, I just get a not working and checking for solutions windows error! :/ It happened on my old version and still getting it after updating! Skin version works fine though, although I don't really like using it (in fact I don't realy know how lol)! I'm guessing it has something to do with windows 10 since it's the only thing that's changed since I last used it! (I think :P)
Any ideas? Thanks
EDIT: ModMii.bat in Support folder works just fine! Sorry about that! Leaving this hear, just in case someone runs into a similar problem (:

Made a thread, but no replies, so figured I'd try here

Basically, I followed the tutorial for noobs I found over the internet. I went over it at least 10 times, and I can't get the emunand to boot.

I used modmii to make the nand, 4.1U, Sneek+DI and such. Tried not installing any extra channels like priiloader, tried installing all of them, tried with & without game wads, with & without games on the sd card. I've tried putting nswitch in the apps, tried the channel forwarder, as well as postloader & priiloadergui. Usually it would freeze but after I installed bootmii as boot2 it just reloads to realnand.

I noticed my SD card was exFat, so I decided to give a quick try with my smaller 8GB fat32. Didn't work at all, couldn't even reload the realnand successfully regardless of settings.

Attempted to extract my own nand, and unfortunately showmiinand crashes whenever I try to extract the nand.bin, it simply closes down, no error message or anything.

If anybody could help me that would be glorious, I've spent more hours than I'd like to admit on this as I didn't want to waste anybody's time, it would seem I have been unable to accomplish my task so far. The two things I could think of off the top of my head would be for some amazing to individual to either create the nand for me, or allow me to send them my nand so they can extract it, send it back and I can attempt to edit it with modmii from there. Open to other options of course. It kinda sucks when I know what I have to try but just can't try it because I have a windows XP in the year 2016

All that is from my thread. For an update, I've decided to copy the files of my nand on to my SD card through wiixplorer seeing as showmiiwads won't extract the bootmii dump. USB Loader GX can also extract a nand dump as well apparently, will be trying that if Wiiexplorer fails. Gonna be completely honest though, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, just trying anything at this point lol

Here's a link to a guide I wrote in the USB Loader GX thread.

https://gbatemp.net/threads/usb-loader-gx.149922/page-1072#post-5929568

If you don't already have an emunand setup then I would recommend using the latest version of USB Loader GX to extract your emunand. Then follow the rest of my guide. Then when you are done, use USB Loader GX to install all your WADS to your emunand. I've found this way much easier than using showmiiwads.

If you need any extra help just let me know and I'll do my best to help you out.

Thank you very much for your help sir, it's greatly appreciated.

I followed all the steps to a T, except I installed Sneek without DI as I don't intend on running backups through the emunand and have read that Sneek + DI is a bit iffy. I'm attempting to use an emunand solely for VC / WW games.

I extracted the dump via usb loader gx to SD:/nands/pl_us. I have successfully been able to install wads to the emunand via usb loader gx, the emunand channels show in the loader as confirmation.

I am able to boot channels on the emulated nand, but they boot up via realnand regardless of the settings. I've changed the nand emulation settings to full since neek wasn't an option, and changed the nand emu path accordingly. Well, VC channels load,
but when I try to load the postloader on the emunand, it says the postloader wasn't found.

When I try to use the Neek forwarder, or try to boot Neek via postloader, Nswitch says switching to realnand and tries to load from the usb, fails, then says it reads the kernel from the SD and reboots the realnand.

Any reason why you don't want the Neek files on your USB drive? I'm no expert when it comes to this stuff but following the guide I posted is exactly what I did to get my games working and others who have followed it got theirs working too. I don't use a Neek forwarder, nswitch or post loader to boot any of my games (at least not that I know of). I boot everything through USB Loader GX so I'm not really sure what it is doing in the back ground to get every thing to load. The fact that it doesn't give you the option to boot using Neek means something isn't set up right. I just don't know what. I would say try it again but this time follow my guide exactly meaning set up uneek+di (I've had no problems with it) and see if it works then. If it still doesn't work then let me know and I may have a few other ideas. Or you can post in the USB Loader GX thread and maybe Cyan will be able to help you out.

I don't have a USB drive so that isn't really an option for me. Unless you count micro SD to USB adapter which I use to run Kirby's Return to Dreamland lol

Ah ok. Not really sure what else I can do to help then. You did say that you were able to get some games to run in USB Loader GX but that it still used real nand. Make sure that the option to display real nand channels is unchecked and display emunand channels is checked. It's one of the options on the top of the main screen. It's possible that USB Loader GX was displaying your real nand which would explain why you thought you were loading from your emunand but it actually uses real nand.

I appreciate your help nonetheless, at least I know my way around the loaders emunand path and wad settings now, very helpful :P Realnand was also unchecked. I highly doubt this will work if I can't run games in emunand mode, but I'm going to make a PAL nand and install a PAL wad to it and try to run it just to see what happens. If it somehow works though, good enough lol

Definitely let me know. The only other thing I can think to do to help would be for us to do a video chat where I can see exactly everything you are doing and make corrections if needed. That is if you are comfortable with that. Anyway, good luck to you and I hope you get this figured out.

Well, no luck so far. Although I did stumble across this thread, so it would seem the issue I'm running into is definitely with neek as the cfg file wasn't created in the sneek folder. I'm having an issue getting neek2o to register the files on the SD card, specifically the kernel.bin, so it would seem. Since it immediately tries to load up from the USB, I think I'll try installing sneek to 2 SD cards, one in the SD adapter, and another in the USB adapter, see how that turns out. Perhaps if I install sneek on the usb I can get it to load up the sneek kernel from the usb and it might just load up the nand in the SD slot

I feel like I had a great idea in theory, but unfortunately Nswitch acknowledges the drive but refuses to read it as a legitimate FAT partition, so it doesn't make an attempt to load any files. Man, I feel like I came pretty close lol

Seems like I should just get a USB drive at this point, I'm completely out of options otherwise. I will test out my theory here with the sneek kernel on usb to SD nand bootup when I get one, I'm curious and feel like it might help somebody even if it didn't help me.

For now I suppose I'll just rely on freethewads or region changing. It's a shame that won't work with certain games like Castlevania Rebirth though, ah well

At the very least I can install as many wads as I want to the emulated nands even if I can't boot them up via the emunand, so at least the endeavor wasn't fruitless :P I'll just keep the extra nands set up in case I get this working, also helps keep things organized as I'll just keep the PAL wads with the PAL nand and such. Probably won't even use freethewads in this case

If you install too many games to your emunand you may not be able to boot into your emunand system menu anymore. But they will still show up in USB Loader GX and will load up and play just fine. Just some personal experience in case you come across that in the future.

Also, what is your primary use for the USB drive? Like are you only going to be playing Wiiware/VC games on it or do you plan on storing Wii and GameCube on it as well? I only ask because flash drives seem to have issues with copying games to them from within USB Loader GX but will play just fine if they are already there. Whereas USB hard drives seem to always work with copying games.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up!

Also, I already have everything else working on the SD card, so I'll probably just use the USB drive for VC/WW games seeing as I'm lazy. Then again I might just migrate completely to the USB for the extra memory and convenience if I could figure out how to get everything working with it

I do have another option I can try actually, I can try to load up a game via neek using CFG loader. This would be great as I love this loader, I use it for Wii backups. Would use it for GCN but unfortunately it doesn't load the settings I set up in Nintendont and resets them. Perhaps I just have to fumble with the game settings in the loader. There's also wiiflow but I can't boot that for some reason, my Wii black screens whenever I make the attempt

I think I might also try the original neek instead of neek2o seeing as the kernel functions a bit differently. The only annoying part about that is I'd have to move the nand files manually in Wiixplorer due to the different file structure and inability to conveniently swap between multiple emunands but that's hardly a downside

To make an update, I have acquired a USB drive, and still no luck with neek2o, following many tutorials, including Clutz's.

Still haven't tried the original neek, although I'd rather not go that route as I could make use of neek2os added features.

I've discovered older versions of neek2o, 89 & below, usually run with a nandpath.bin file. Not sure if I could use this file with newer versions of neek2o, but I'll give the older revisions a go

Standard, first generation wii

nandcfg.bin is being created in the SNEEK folder in my SD card with Sneek, so I know it's at least accessing the SD card. Nandpath.bin boots before nandcfg.bin and reroutes neek2o to the specified nand, so this may just be the answer I'm looking for.

No nandcfg.bin found on the usb drive with uneek, odd. Tried uneek without the SD files since they're optional, I'll try it again with the SD files, and once more with the USB files on both USB drive & SD card.

& then I'll rinse & repeat the process with neek2o r89 if it fails
