Hacking Making Amiibo NTAG215s

The cheapest NTAG215 here is $0.38/pc. Cheapest NTAG216 is $0.31/pc. Both in credit card size, so NTAG215 are 25% more expensive than its big bro.

**The following are non-educated guess only**
Took a brief look at the datasheet. The difference between the 2 chips are the location of 'dynamic lock bytes' and 'configuration pages' as well as the value in CC. So in order to use NTAG216 in place of NTAG215, the data for 'dynamic lock bytes' and 'configuration pages' need to be written to the correct location. CC bits could be set to FF (refer to Amiibo article on 3dbrew) so the difference in default value does not matter.

Oh, by the way, I do not have the tools or '216 tags. So please don't ask me for it. Tagmo source code is freely available for everyone to tinker with.

Your phone might not be compatible with Amiibo related NFC items.

My old Galaxy Light had the same issue.

I wish there was a compatability list of which nfc phones do work. Im just happy the place i bought it from is willing to give me store credit to get a newer phone.

Well it's easier to just buy NTAG215's since i've ran out of 216's to use. I was just using up the rest of my 216's. But wouldn't it make more sense to buy the correct tags if I could choose one or the other?

I'm wondering things here
first, I have my greninja amiibo here with some smash data, if I dump it, aren't it coming with this data ?

Second, I don't have an android with NFC but if I have an USB NFC reader/writer, is there a way to do as well ?
(I'm almost sure I can this, but how?:v I remind the other thread about amiibo cards saying about a PC reader/writer)

And a new one, is the Mii ones, if I want to make it from an specific mii, is just an mii amiibo and then put the wanted one via smash ?
I'm working in some fanzines and my plan is to make mii amiibos cards of the characters and give it as gift xD

Yes, the save data will be saved with the Amiibo when you dump it.

@dpad_5678 basically you made an app to lock ~300 btyes of an NTAG216 so that it's 540 bytes, like an NTAG215. Why is everyone losing their shit? Just buy some NTAG215s or devise the app yourself.

Because it contributed nothing. There was no theorizing over it, it wasn't a passing statement (someone did it before them, it was a passing statement, and nobody cared) it was "I have a thing, maybe I'll release it" "No I won't".
No demonstration, no new idea, nothing but a tease that spent multiple posts to go nowhere.

The issue isn't the idea, it's the posts.

I told already, I just can' find 215 on my country(at least on internet? lol) ... only lower or 216 xp I wish I can get stuff easy like you guys do soon, you don't know how this is frustrating :B

Justo make clear that NTC technology is really something new here, it's common on new buses card but the rest? few even know about it hahah
I saw some sellers selling Tags and I ask then about wich model (feature?) they are and some don't know what to tell, some told me it's working frequency õ3o
Even phones with this is not easy to find .. I'm hoping that an computer header can help me with this thing, a phone with NFC are top top market here and not accessible xD
Not wanting to show this as a sob history, just to tell that isn't that easy, but we still can do it, just is harder and more expensive XD

And well, people aren't happy with him because he is just not helping when, according him, it's possible to do use of stuff, no helping or improving the "making amiibo" thread :B

Yeah that bank site has what they call "PowerSaves" (cue Datel suit /s) which are dumps that have maxed information and such.

well let's start that "making amiibo" started on a topic about an android app that read the amiibo and gave your some info about , I remember a guy showing about Ntags and cheap figures and " how long would take to someone put these together?",probably have more about this that I've lost but whats wrong about improving this the same way? I mean, this is how stuff evolve, right? this is simple xD

It was originally "DIY Amiibo Cards", and then this one was made for the tutorial in OP (which, amusingly, was outdated within two days) and it became the continued point of discussion.

I think the only way to know is testing , or find if someone already reported something , but I think it's allright

also I would like to know about alternatives not android/smarthphone .. or better, windows or linux :B on a computer , someone have any ideia?

I'm doing a research about using skyander portal at least to read stuff with the computer but I haven't went much far ...
