In Awakening, all my saves (in every folder) are called Chapter0, 1, 2 and Global. Is this normal or does it mean it literally keeps information of Prologue and the first two chapters even if I advanced much further in the game? I'd hate to lose all my progress like I did yesterday when I first tried the tool.

Try using savedatafiler instead, do you get the same files?

It's normal. When I backup, I only have Chapter 0 and Global because I only have one save slot (# of chapters = # of saves). Because you have chapters 0, 1, and 2, I assume you've used all three save slots?

Good question. This is not a specific format though, it's the same data that SDF extracts, the actual save files and not the packed thing.
I said JK format because usually if you backup a save with SDF, you had to also backup the save for the target game, and swap files before you could be able to restore them. Something I've always hated. But then that must be a Gateway thing, cia's must be as easy as backing up the save, and sharing them with anyone with nothing special.

But I see what you mean by both of them being the same thing, they literally are. I hope to share my ACNL villager saves one day, for use with JK SM.

I messaged the dude behind the Gateway saves website, to include a section for cia saves.

What should a save look like? Im trying to get a save for Bravely Default after I lost mine, I got a .sav file but it wont import on this or Svdt. says Found 0 Items when I try. is this the wrong save file/did they mess it up?

emunand9 old 3ds
bravely default eshop (legit)
save is called 00000001.sav
ive also tried renaming it to other save titles 00040000000FC500.sav

I always wondered that myself, I have two .sav files from my old sky3ds blue button and wondered if there was a way to restore it into the CIA without the actual flashcart. I sold it. Lol.
