hi guys,

im trying to mod the vWii, stuck at dumping the nand usinf dump mii nand. it had been almost 3 hours and it is only at 428/4096? the guides suggest it may take 20 to 60 mins to complete? mine seems goin to take 1 day at this progress. is this normal?

im on 5.3.2 and using a 1gb card.

thx

Its most likely the speed of your card

Get a faster card
yeh that should b the case i guess, it is still going. not stuck. should i unplug and use a different card or shoild i leave it running for the course, may b more than a day. would it b bad for the machine to do this over sich a long time?

The wii u shouldnt overheat really, should be fine

Technically, its reading the NAND, not writing, so unplugging it should be fine. But Im not positive exactly how the dumper works. Its recommended that you DO NOT unplug during the dumping process.

had that issue, was using a class 4, i got bored and decided to skip my nand back up, later on, i just backed up the keys, and the full sistem IOS including the Titles and System Menu.

I have a fast card...it just takes a LONG time (although mine took around 2 hours). Don't worry about the Wii U overheating. Mine has been on overnight on occasions and is always cool a a cucumber....then again I have it in a very open and ventilated location :)

Yea if you're using the 2GB SD you used to hack your system, it's FAT and Class 4, it's going to take a long time.
Swap it out with a SDHC and it should take at most 20-40min unless your SD is having issues.

Leave it to do its thing. Don't be impatient. Dump your nand, your keys, and each individual system ios like it says in the guide. Keep it in a safe place. Also, installing wads, like VC wads and whatnot, risk bricking your vWii. Despite what others say, there is a good risk, so without these back ups, you'll be dead in the water. Run homebrew apps and USB loaders in vWii. Don't install VC wads. For that, get a Wii, or use some other avenue to play the game.

The nand dump depends on your card speed mostly. My first dump i did with a 1gb non hc and took +- 30min. (i do backups now and then of my nand after update on wii u or if i change something). My last backup i did with a SDHC 8GB and took +- 3hrs. I did some speed test on my desktop on the cards and the 1gb was way faster.
Also NUS can get "good" vWii ioses now but it's always better to have your own clean ios wad from your console.
I advise to not skip any step on the backup part, you never know when you'll need it.
