Hiya,

Recently installed Rev1260 and it keeps freezing whilst installing games to the hard drive. The hard drive worked previously with a prior version. Here's my system info, I apologise in advanced for the lack of knowledge.

Hiya,

Recently installed Rev1260 and it keeps freezing whilst installing games to the hard drive. The hard drive worked previously with a prior version. Here's my system info, I apologise in advanced for the lack of knowledge.

..IOS249[37] (rev 21004, Info: d2x-v4): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
..IOS250[57] (rev 21008, Info: d2x-v8final): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
The cIOS you have installed in slot 249 looks outdated. That could be causing the problem since USBLoaderGX loads slot 249 by default.

You could update that cIOS (which I'd recommend), OR you could change USBLoaderGX's Global Settings so that it uses IOS250 instead of 249. The cIOS you have installed in slot 250 is more recent and should work just fine.

Thank you @portugeek for the reply, I've tried what you've suggested but still no luck. I think the issue might be with my drive, I don't know why as it worked fine in the past, do you think having multiple folders (i use it for media storage too) would cause the problem?

How far does it get before it freezes? Is it about the same time for any game? If so the drive/enclosure could be going into sleep mode.

Also try scanning it with chkdsk and make sure the filesystem doesn't need repair.

Freezes after about 30 seconds or so? the percentage varies from game to game, but it never gets past that sort of time frame and it will always freeze at the same point on the game (for example SM Galaxy always freezes at 13.2% or something daft like that). I don't understand what's changed, it used to work fine. What is "chkdsk"? FWIW, I've also cleaned the laser too and it still plays games fine.

it's a HDD or a flashdrive?
you said HDD, but it's usually a symptom encountered with flash drives which are not always compatible on Wii or vWii.

You can try to set the "Loader's IOS" to 58 in the settings, and reboot the loader.
maybe IOS58 works better with your drive.
don't change the "game's IOS"

You said you updated the slot 249, what did you installed there ?
You had "base37" which is not the commonly used base.
You should install base56 or base57, not base37.

and d2x v8 or v10 r52 (NOT r53 if you don't need it. if you don't know why you would need it, it means you don't. just install r52 or v8 final)

best option is:
249[56] d2x v8 Final

It is a hdd, it used to work fine, can still play games off it as well as other media. Tried the 58 loader setting, it didn't work. I'm gonna try formatting it soon...!

I did what you suggested using d2x v6 and still no luck.

I formatted the drive, it installs games fine now. Would having other folders and files on the drive cause the issue?

Did you try scanning it for FS errors before you formatted it? It probably just had some misallocated entries.

I didn't, I'm currently running Linux on my netbook and I have no idea how to do that. Gonna try and stick some ROM libraries on the drive again and see if that causes a problem.
