Thank you.

Even if it were possible I'm not sure if we would want to accept that. That defeats the whole point of a fan translation, it would be no different than watching a gameplay video on YouTube just to see the NoA version of the cutscenes.
I'm speaking of all the missing supports actually, because everything else is already translated probable as it could

Shouldn't it actually be possible to import parts of the official translation into this? Or would it be illegal this way?

We stated this in the SF forum, but since we don't have enough free members rn to do all the translating (all 6 of our translators, myself included, are busy), we're going to "scrub" the localization - correct it to what it should've been, and then we'll release a final patch, as well as the Fates restoration patch we planned.

Thank you for confirming the material will stay faithful to the original. I feel better now.

New (late) update! OP updated.

Update (2-08-16):
Team If also plans to release several patches for Fire Emblem: Fates, following several controversial decisions made by Nintendo:

The currently existing patcher will be modified to work with Fire Emblem: Fates (all editions). We will release several patch packs (as possible). Here are the following packs:

- Amie restoration
- Japanese dub restoration
- Japanese name restoration
- Fan-Translation

Packs that need to be verified are legal:

- Official Japanese text pack
- Official NA text pack (for Japanese-edition users)

Any combination of them is possible. SciresM plans to make it so if you want it, just unzip the pack in the patcher, instructions to follow.

Hi ! o/

Quick question about the last Thread update :

I haven't exactly understood what we will be able to be done with the pack.
I have intention to buy the retail game(s) of my country. What i'm REALLY interested in is restoring the japanese voices and names (high priority ++), and maybe some other ''''''''''censored'''''''''' content.

Does this mean that it will be possible ?

------------------------------------------------------------------
Another question relative version of games + patch :
in my country will be release a cart that includes the 3 games. Is this patchable ? Or is the patch only available to separated games (2 cart + 1 dlc)

If your so concerned with getting the Japanese voices for your game then import the special edition from Japan then apply the translation patch to the game. Guaranteed to have the original voice work for the game.

Also DLC is region locked to your 3DS's region only, so for example a US 3DS cannot use the Japanese DLC code. For the DLC your gonna have to just pirate that unless you choose to get the special edition in your own region.

Thanks, this is all the info needed.

By the way, my favorite part is when you start a new game, and big sister Lucina tells you that you must defeat her to leave the castle.

Yes. We have full intention on adding a patch pack that restores the original Japanese VAs. (When I say pack, it's because our currently existing patcher is going to be modified to work with FE:Fates (NA), and there will be a folder from where the patcher reads the files. Anything you want, you will be able to download a pack provided by us (or others) in a compressed format, then all you have to do is decompress the pack in the folder, and the patcher will automatically detect what's in there and use it. And for reference, yes, the patcher is intended to automatically detect what version of the game you're using (as it does for FE:If right now).

Names are easy to patch in.

~

You're using the North American Special Edition, yes? Until we actually dump our own copies of the game, we won't be able to guarantee anything, but anything on the cart should be patchable. That includes Revelation, which appears to be installed on-cart for Special Edition versions. (One way or another there will be a way to patch it, but for all DLC-related content, you need to install a custom generated .cia file (it's basically a file that your 3DS reads and installs from the SD card, kind of like downloading from the eshop.)

And actually, 1. There aren't really any special editions left. I know there's still one on shelves in the Sofmap branch that sells used items in Ikebukuro, but I honestly won't go there just to buy a game for someone, unless I'm paid well. And 2. In terms of this patching, it's not like 3DS region really matters. It DOES matter in terms of acquisition of the DLC (you need to region spoof and access the Japanese eshop), but when you play the patched version, you're probably playing on a cfw, and the ones we support all regions.

Also, as evident in the Serenes chat, we do NOT support piracy. We don't want to hear about it, and we won't distribute ANY piracy related content.

~

Imean... making like a DLC like.cia with the restaurations... so you can get the original game and use this:B idk haah

Use standard English, man.

From what you're saying, I'm assuming you're talking about creating a .cia with our patched files that contains the DLC, and install that into your 3DS (along with the physical version of the game, which I assume you'll patch later, whatever method you choose). Yes, it's possible to create a custom .cia, but distribution of that is illegal and so we won't bother.

In fact, I don't know if it's been stated in GBATemp at all, but Team If (for reference, I am a translator and the administrator of the team) does not even officially support patching any DLC. Because we don't support piracy, you have to be able to decrypt / encrypt / all that DLC stuff, which is too complicated for the standard user. But there are guides out there on how.

I'll buy the EUR special edition. We have currently no release date in France.
I didn't check any sellers yet.

Not sure about what you are talkin in your point 2 (DLC).
I guess i'll just connect to eur/fr eshop with eur/fr 3DS and buy DLCs.

Well actually I meant only the restorations patch, not new content ... anyway xD

Well let e ask you ... I'm looking with some friends here to start an If/fates translation to portuguese, if they want to take the project, can we do it from this translation ?

I have some very basic questions. I know nothing about patching 3ds game. Do I understand this right:
- I purchased the official copy of Fire Emblem: Fates(US region), whichever path it is. The patcher you're working on will do what you stated (restoring JP voices, etc.) on said copy, which I can then play on my system (New 3DS XL) normally. (Or do I need custom firmware or other additional softwares?)
- Will it require several complicate steps to "patch" the game?
- Will it work on digital copy (bought from eshop)?

Restoration patch for DLC will still require a custom cia.

Regarding the Portuguese translation, feel free to use it, but please PM me first because there are some things I would like to clarify when using our content.

- If you're using the patcher route, yes, you will need a cfw. You'll also need some other software and Homebrew to do some required things, such as dumping the game (in Homebrew), obtaining xorpads, etc.... (Also you ofc need a CFW to play a patched version of this rom, because we can't alter the card data itself, nor would we want to).

- Yes, it's quite complicated. We'll have to rewrite the README, since most people still struggle. There are also some kind users online who have uploaded videos to YouTube.

- Well, technically, yes, but decrypting that data, is something only advanced hackers can do. If you're just a beginner, don't even think about it.

And just to confirm, yes, you do need a 3DS at 9.2 (or at 10.3 or below to downgrade) to play this patch, but if you don't want DLC translations, you likely can just use HANS. We will confirm once we have data mined.

Thanks for the quick answers. I can probably order a physical copy. However, my N3DS XL is already updated to 10.5. Is there still hope for me to use this patch? Will the patch itself be locked to 9.2 only, or does it depend on the support of cfw?

No prob. Please message me first regarding distribution of files and credits.

Uh, HANS via Homebrew on 10.5 for anything on-cart. For anything beyond that it depends still on 9.2 and CFWs.
