Step 10;
10) If Menuhax was uninstalled from the System Format done on Chapter VI, Just do Chapter II once again then reinstall MenuHax,

I have a friend that is stuck on that step because now, he cannot enter Homebrew from Browser to reinstall menuhax.

I told him that is normal to happen because the instability of sliderhax but he insists that maybe something is indeed wrong. But he DID enter on browserhax successfully on earlier steps but in this rare case seems to be not working the exploit even the colors doesn't show up. It just goes back to menu.

Yeah man, if i open emuNAND9Tool it says i have a "GW emuNAND" installed.

I'll try with rxTools v2.6, and if that doesn't work, i'll try v2.5.2. I'll let you know the results, don't worry.

If that fails, i'll try on another sd card, maybe that's the problem, and if that doesn't work too, i'll try to install CakesFW
If I were you, Try with the Version I Used. A link to it is in the Download Center.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

here is a screen shoot of the files in my 3ds folder. Is everything in the correct place
No, The "3ds" folder is just to be used to host all of your Homebrew Launcher .3dsx and .smdh files. Each app should be inside a Folder with the exact same name as the .3dsx file apart from the sploit, ironhax and eshop files. The "3DS" folder you ahve inside of "3ds" shouldnt be there at all neither should the 3 EmuNAND9 files, launcher.dat and Readme all other files and folders should be fine. Btw if you really young I highly recommend not doing this to your tutorial I recommend you get someone older to follow this tutorial. (Not saying you are young)

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I'm needing some help restoring my game saves after following the tutorial for unlinking my NNID.

Before I started I did an emunand dump in emunand9, then I made a copy of my entire SD card. After I backed this all up I followed the tutorial to unlink my NNID and everything worked so I can update games, access the eshop, ect...

Now the only problem is I don't know how to or if there's a way to transfer my saved games data from the copy of my SD card before I reformatted. I keep seeing posts about using savedatafiler but I don't know if I have that installed or where I can find it.
SaveDataFiler.cia is now in the Download Center. First backup your CURRENT EmuNAND (The one you want the saves on, Lets call this emuNand1) Now To backup your saves, please reimport the EmuNAND you backed up a while back that had the saves by using EmuNAND9 tool. Then go ahead and install SaveDataFiler.cia and use it to backup your saves. Once you have them backed up go ahead and take out your SD card and put the EmuNAND.bin you backed up (EmuNAND1 Backup) now go back into EmuNAND9 tool and reimport the EmuNand.bin now you should be back to your 10.5 emunand with your nnid linked just like before except now you have your Save Files on your SD card. Reinstall SaveDataFiler.cia onto this EmuNAND, Install all the games you backed up Save Files for then open SaveDataFiler scroll right to "SD" tab and just import all of the saves. You should now be set and they should have your save. If they dont its possible your Installed .cia's for the games are a different region to the Save Files you backed up beforehand with SaveDataFiler.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Sorry for many questions but,

I'm safe from online play in this method?
Since it doesn't require any kind of flashcarts...
Its safe to play Online with EmuNAND, EmuNAND is exactly like SysNAND exept its exploitable and Signatures can be patched which is what allows you to install cias.

If it goes back to the menu saying Error Occured please reboot before trying again or similar its very simple, Go into the browser with your Communications Button turned off. Go into Settings on the Browser scroll down and click Clear All Save Data. While Communications is still disabled Open the QR code and it will ask you to setup browser just set it up. It will now try and load the page but of course it cant cause the button is turned off, close the browser and now turn on the button and open the Browser. Give this a few tries before giving up on it as it IS unstable. I can confirm that the worse/slower the page loads it has a LOT less chance of actually working. I could only get Sliderhax to work on a 4mpbs connection. If it still doesnt work let me know I could give you another trick that may work.

Then go into Data Management > 3DS > Software > Reset.
actually, how exactly does this reset function work? or is this just in case you bring over these corrupted dbs files?

i'm reading up to setup another 3ds and I dont remember doing this on my first one at all

Ok I understand your problems.

What you need to do is Power on your system while holding L to go to the HBL.
Hold L+R (As that works for you) to open the rxMenu (Since you did the First Time screen). Click A to enter rxMode and Hold R while you click Y or X to boot emunand (Cant remember which one it is xD)
That should boot you into it emuNAND. Now to resolve the issues go into Theme Options from the Settings button on the Top Left corner and change your theme to anything for now just move it from whatever it currently is.
Power Down and Reboot dont press anything and it should boot up with no issues. If its still giving issues let me know.

Hi, similar error here, tried your fix but when i change the theme in the emunand it changes the theme in my sysNand too. Therefore, no menuhax on sysnand. Tried this 2 times and no changes

Edit: Solved it! I have to unlink the nands befor change the theme.

Thank you for for all the information, I'll give this a shot and update with my results. One last question for now, and I feel stupid for asking but is SaveDataFiler bundled with something else on the download center? I did a search for it and the only results were Smash and DBZ save files to be used with it.

so i made it as far as where I injected fbi into health and safety app and am stuck at chapter V, step 8,
for some reason, i'm unable to boot either emu or sysnand from rxtools advanced menu. both just lead me to black screens. do i have to unlink nands before that works?
or is there any obvious mistake i made while setting up rxtools?

rxtools starts up just fine, as does the home menu when i dont trigger homebrew or anything

k, after going through pretty much every available rx tools version, one finally decided to work.
now i'm stuck with unlinked nands and sysnand not wanting to get browserhax working... god, why cant this all be as easy as hacking a psp?

This is part of the Unlinking step. It fits more into Setting up CFW so I kept it in that Step. Please do that step after you finish Chapter VI then go to Chapter VII.

From Troubleshooter:
ISSUE: rxTools wont load EmuNAND, Shows Red/Black screen.
FIX: Boot into HBL with "L" and Hold "L" when opening rxTools from HBL. This should open a rxTools menu. Press A to open rxMode and Hold "R" and open emuNAND from the menu by pressing X/Y. Change your theme to anything while on emuNAND and it should be fixed. If not, Please unlink your nands then come back and try again.

didn't have to do that again this time either though. i guess its really only for when you dont have dbs files (like you would when you completely wipe your 3ds before attempting to downgrade or when setting up a freshly bought console)

as for that, i tried and i did, several times, but it just wouldn't load either patched sysnand or emunand from the rxtools version until the very last beta 2 of 3.0 worked finally.

If I were you I wouldnt use unstable versions. The version I used in the Download Center seems to be very stable.

yes, though as right as that may be, it was not loading emunand on my brothers 3ds at all, neither was the version i used on my own 3ds xl or any besides beta 2 of 3.0
the only other way i saw was using another cfw altogether, however, i dont know how they work and prefer this one just in case. as far as stability is concerned, i've not noticed anything out of the ordinary so far.

I understand but it was a simple fix, You simply had MenuHax on your EmuNAND making it boot-loop the boot.3dsx which loads rxtools see what im saying? 3.0 I believe checks and removes MenuHax if its detected which is why you have no issues with it.

but it wasnt looping.
and the troubleshoot and guide advice didn't solve the issue. i tried multiple times.
and there was no reason menuhax on emunand would have triggered, since i wasnt using the modified boot.3dsx from this thread to begin with, but a ctrbootmanager setup and wasn't holding my menuhax boot button when going into emunand (which is up on dpad for me)

It was boot looping if your screen was flashing Black/Red every now and then. And yes it would trigger its exactly what MenuHax is, Its basically used to autoboot into something. Not sure about CTR as I never use it but basically:
Power On > Opens rxMode > Opening rxMode's EmuNand > EmuNand loads and loads theme data > Theme data contains a MenuHax payload > MenuHax loads > MenuHax uses the boot settings files on the SD cards root > MenuHax open rxMode EmuNand as you didnt press anything stated in the Boot Config > Causing Boot Loop continuing from "Opens rxMode".

it was not flashing at all. it instantly went to a black screen where nothing happened anymore until i shut the whole thing down. i know how it looks when its on loop, it would've taken me back to ctr and on the 2nd or 3rd loop, it would've eventally crashed.

menuhax itself, without manipulating the boot file or anything to make it behave differently, only triggers when you hit the trigger button (if you dont set it to trigger when you -dont- hold the button, which i did not).

but be that as it may, i've read through countless topics and theres many people who have trouble with one version of rxtools but another suddenly works just fine.
i have no idea why that is, but i'm willing to believe its just

I am having a hard time following the first few steps I get to step II fine, but III-A can't be done, the files you provided I think are linked to RXTOOLS right off the bat. At step 3A it wont boot in HomeBrew Launcher because it needs Code.bin from the RXTools folder, but thats not done till later.

Also wanted to double check, when you say for example put EmuNand9 tool into the 3ds folder, the whole zip files worth or just the files inside the zips 3ds folder?

Durring step III-B I have 2 questions:

1) does the backed up Nand file need to be on the card anymore for this creation of EMUNand?
2) I got a note when I built emunand (just before i confirmed start) that there is no starter.bin, is that bad? I didnt copy it, this relates to my question above

Edit/Update: despite these questions I am unfortunately having a hard time with the red/black flashing issue after setting up the CFW befofe I can do the FBI part. I tried to change the theme, then reinstall menuhax but it still does it.

tried to skip ahead to unlinking, made what i think is sysnand red in themes, but now it just boots to the sysnand only and I cant get sliderhax to get my back to the menu so i can set up the menu hax to get me to rxtools lol tried 20 times so far just get the error has occured at orange

After step 6 and going back to step 5, i couldnt access menuhax and when I installed it, it still didnt boot when i pressed L+startup, I also cant access my emunand now (the one with fbi and RX-ver)

edit: found the problem, when I try to start it up it doesnt let me go to the emunand, I have to go to menuhax first then go rxmode before getting into the emunand, any fixes?

Your not meant to install MenuHax on EmuNAND change the theme ON EMUNAND not SysNAND and just power on and it will be fixed. NAND.bin is a Backup of your SysNAND keep it safe. No Starter.bin is fine just continue it;

As for the Code.bin issue use the Version of rxTools I used in the Download Center.

Power On while Holding L hover over rxTools in HBL and Hold L while you open rxTools, Go into rxMode and Hold R while you open EmuNAND from rxMode. Change your emunands theme to Uninstall Menuhax from EmuNAND and it will be sorted.

it still boots into the sysnand even after botting to EmuNAND (Y) while pressing R and changing the theme
