Go to the ISO site, CFW section. There's pre-patched TWL_FIRMS for both O3DS and N3DS there.
Wait, so it's simply 1 general CIA that has to be flashed? Nothing more to keep an eye out for?
Will this bring any disadvantages or something I have to watch out for then in the future?

Well, if you use RxTools then you don't need them, but yes, if you use Cakes or Reinand, just install it to emuNAND (no need for it to be on sysNAND, so there's no risk. If on Cakes, make sure you disable reboot patches so that GBA/TWL stuff will work.). If you find your flash cart still isn't working after installing a patched TWL_FIRM, you can try Apache's launcher from the first post. Pretty much every flash cart that's ever worked aside from a select few (ones that auto-booted on the DS Lite/original DS, and maybe a couple others) should work on the 3DS with these patches and/or Apache's Launcher.

Nice, thanks for the info!
Just to "inform myself" here a little and learn more about the 3DS: Is TWL_FIRM only used for NDS mode? Any way of this "breaking something" in the future or any other things? Just being interested here, nothing more :)

TWL_FIRM is the mode that the 3DS boots into when running DS and DSiware. So if you brick it or break it, nothing is really lost aside from that. It's like if you brick MIOS on a Wii, you won't brick the Wii, but you can't play Gamecube games after that (pretend DIOS MIOS and Nintendont don't exist for a minute). But no, you can always just revert back to the stock TWL_FIRM by using 3DNUS to grab the latest version from Nintendo, pack it as a CIA, and then install it over this one.

It works with my R4i Gold (version 7) and Supercard DSonei, of course those can be easily unblocked, but it's still worth mentioning.
For shits and giggles, I tested out my M3 Real (side loading SD card) and DSTT, but sadly they didn't work. At the moment, I do have any other flashcards that are worth testing, like my DSTwo.

Aw, no luck, even with Apache's launcher?

That's what I was testing out. Both DSi flashcards launched perfectly using Apache's launcher. But sadly, both the M3 Real and DSTT don't use a header, so they won't work.

Maybe a stupid question here now but when I try to install the TWL_FIRM CIA DevMenu only says that this program is already existing and refuses to replace it.
Since the version seems to be the same than the already installed one is there a way to uninstall the already existing one and replace it with that inside of DevMenu or do I have to do something else?

I'm not sure how you'd do it with DevMenu. I used the latest version of FBI to do it. Set the destination to NAND (if you're in emuNAND, it'll obviously install to that, so there's no need to panic), and it should ask if you want to overwrite or uninstall the already installed version. Just say yes and it should work. If you're worried about something going wrong, you can always use EmuNAND9 Tool to make a backup of your emuNAND.

Action Replay DSi confirmed NOT WORKING, get's stuck at a white screen at bootup.

Besides, the 3DS XL is reeeeeeally not happy with me putting the card in... I kinda have to use a normal 3DS card first to "snap it in", then pull it out without making the click so the card won't always pop back out. The cracks it makes aren't quite pleasant to hear :P

I doubt it, GBA/DS stuff generally doesn't work when booted into any Gateway mode. You could always set up some simple CFW like Reinand to use for when you want to run this stuff though.
So it's possible to configure menuhax to boot default gateway menu and when I press any key into pasta cfw or rxtools?

You'd need to use something like BootCTR for that. After you have that set up you can then just hold whatever button you set in BootCTR when the MenuHax logo shows up to boot pasta (nothing pressed can boot Gateway for example).

I tried the same action replay, white screen too on my n3dsxl.
It's not that hard to insert an action replay in the N3DSXL

so far no luck with original CycloDS Evolution... "An error has occurred" screen, launcher present on both emu and sysnand, new rxtools etc. I'm not sure if it's an incompatibility or just the connection being flaky though =/
Got the same error. I dunno if I installed it properly though, I do know that DSi games work for me now, if I install them as a cia.
