the hardmod on the 3ds XL isn't that difficult. You should just be careful when opening the 3ds xl. The L/R buttons are attached with ribbons so you shouldn't pull it open right away. You need to peak in the remove the L/R tabs connected to the motherboard.

The mod is not hard, but it's not something an inexperienced person that can't afford to replace their 3DS should attempt either. The pads are somewhat small.

I did it with little issue, but I am used to soldering various apple products with pads the size of a pin head.

If you don't have faith in your soldering abilities them sending to someone with experience is the way to go.

The risk is kinda high. and i dont want to ruin the 3ds, even though i bought it for cheap i really want it and want to play the pokemon games which i cant :P
