How I can use this to move from a 16 gb sd card to a 32 gb sd card?

I really don't want to mess up this...

Keep getting "read failed error=87(the parameter is incorrect)"

I read like 25 pages. So I'm guessing win 8 doesn't support this tool??? So what can I do to create a emunand backup instead?

I wanted to update my EmuNAND from 9.2 to the latest, unfortunately I do not have enough money to buy a bigger card to dump my EmuNAND. Can I use that PC tool to dump/extract it and then update/reinject it or would absolutely have to get a bigger SD?

I'm running Rei on EmuNAND and SusNAND 9.2.0, some games on my Sky3DS require updated firmware to work correctly and I don't really like having to boot into HBL to use HANS or whatnot.

hello there, I want to upgrade the size of mny SDHC of my card so I can try to install .cia files on it.

so all I have to do is:
1. format emunand on this new card
2. inject the old emunand image with this tool?

is that all?

Same here. I got my main (sysNand) backup but i dont have enough memory for a emu nand too. So i was thinking the same thing? Does this work?

Does this extraction/injection create a carbon copy of my emunand? Will all of my installed games, saves, other stuff be there? Planning on upgrading my card. Thanks

Copy of emuNAND - Yes.
Copy of games/saves - No. *these reside on the SD itself*

All the items on your SD wiil need to be copied to the new SD. All this does it just backup the emuNAND partition.

If you're swapping over to a newer-larger card (and you have the HDD space), it can be easier to just use Win32DiskImager to read out the entire SD, then write it to the new one and then extend the partition.

Otherwise you'd need to backup your current emunand, copy all the files off the SD to your PC. Then create a new emunand on the new SD, inject the backup, and restore your files.

Huh. I hope copying off the files is as easy as copying and pasting the whole content of the sd card itself?

Done it :)

- Take SD out of 3DS and copy everything to PC
- Be sure to make a new folder for that
- Make a NAND dump of the Emunand with "EmuNANDTool" (Extract emuNAND)
- Rename EmuNAND.bin to NAND.bin
- Place "Launcher.dat" on new SD
- Place NEW SD into your 3DS and boot into Gateway menu
- Format EMUNAND
- Turn off 3DS
- Place SD in cartreader and into your PC
- Start "EmuNANDTool" again and choose Inject NAND to emuNAND
- Copy everything back to your new SD

You are now ready, insert the new SD into your 3DS and boot inbto Gateway, everything is back as it was before

Something like this? Thanks by the way.

Yep, that's pretty much exactly what I said.
Though to be honest, I get tired of recreating emuNAND due to the time and having to setup GW.

I personally find it easier to just read out the entire SD to a file, then write the image back to the new SD. Then use a partition tool to extend the data partition out to the size of the new SD. Requires just a PC and no need to fuss with Emunand9 or GW or injection.

Hello, I borked my emunand and need to use a backup that I previously made. With Emunandtool 1.0.3 I am getting the error when I try to inject emunand is "emunand size is invalid" I googled it an it appears to be a common issue with that version so I went down to version 1.0.1 and tried to inject emunand again and it says access is denied. I have disabled all antivirus/antimalware and all firewalls, checked for write protection on the drive and there was none, ran the tools administrator and it is still giving me these errors.

I'm using the latest and it says that the backup is not the right size when i try to inject it. Any Ideas?

@Psionic Roshambo i didn't go amd for one specific reason, the AI performance is way behind nvidia

oh yeah also DLSS is a pretty solid reason to go nvidia since fidelityfx is kinda crap

and now with the rtx video upscaling, and sdr->hdr conversion, even more reason to go nvidia
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
both of which work well in potplayer
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
amd is a bit cheaper though
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Cheaper and they are less stingy with the RAM not a big issue now but I can imagine in a yard or two things might be different
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Year not yard lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Interesting lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding

When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?

Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
