The cia builds are more likely to crash than 3dsx. Gpsp cia crashes a lot for me to. That's why I use gba injection instead.
what about .3DS files emulator?

i put the bios files inside system inside retroarch folder , but it wont detect it.

Will RetroArch recreate these files and set my settings back to default if I delete them?
both the retroarch-core-options.cfg and retroarch.cfg files

One idea:

I think the 4:3 option should make the upper and lower parts filled. Just like BlargSNES.

I personally use and play all my games in the default video aspect. I tried getting used to the other like 16:9 or 16:10 or Custom but honestly I feel like playing them at it's original aspect makes all the graphics look more proportionate and not stretched out.

I don't think overrides would work on 3ds.
Did you try configurations per-core? are those enabled? if config per-core is enabled overrides won't work.

I'll give it a try. I have mostly used 1:1. But if I would like to use something else, I think it would be cool if we could stretch it all the way to the top and low :)

Doesn't really matter.

CATSFC or CATSFC Plus for Snes games, if a game happens to drop frames (very few games, like FF6) then use pocketSnes for those problem games. I think Mario RPG works better on pocketSnes.

MegaDrive, either Genesis Plus GX or Picodrive will do. Genesis Plus GX is more accurate (slower but should still run full speed), Picodrive is specially optimised for ARM processors.

Per-core video settings would be nice. :)

Just in case someone knows on this thread:
Can someone tell me if there's any benefit to running Retroarch through Reinand vs. just running the .3ds version of it on a Gateway card in Emunand? I just have a N3ds running Gateway and no CFW or anything else.

Wasn't sure if it was worth the trouble to get Reinand on there just for running Retroarch for GBA games, if the .3ds version works the same/better on GW natively. Thanks!

I agree with everything except one small detail. Pocketsnes actually has superior speed compared to catsfc. There are tens of games that are unplayable on catsfc that really SHINES on PocketSNES. For example Yoshi's Island :)

IS this true though? I can't speak for anyone else of course, but I've played Metroid: Zero Mission for hours over the past few days and it's been rock solid. I wonder what could be causing it to work fine for me but cause trouble for you?

The only crashes there should be is loading more than 3 games without quitting on gpsp or certain games on pocketsnes. And on 32x games or extra chip genesis games. I haven't had or heard of any stability issues in playable cores otherwise.

Ah, well I haven't been doing that, so that could very well be why (haven't been playing anything with PocketSNES or any 'special chip' Genesis games either, for that matter).

For me the compatibility is rather low. When booting Many games, those crashes the emulator.

The .3ds "rom" versions have the same permissions and performance as CIA builds, so no, you're not missing out on anything, aside from space savings. The .3ds rom versions will always be a lot larger as long as Gateway requires homebrew to be encrypted (encrypted data isn't very easily compressible, and homebrew CIAs aren't encrypted typically, but are usually compressed to save space).

I read through this and am still confused on how to get my old 3ds xl to run PS1 games on retroarch. I downloaded the .3dsx files from here http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/nintendo/3ds/ , then I ran it on my homebrewed 3ds and can see all the cores (pcsx rearmed, pocket snes, catsfc libretro,...). I then run the pcsx rearmed and the bottom screen has a bunch of stuff, one of which is labled [WARN], it says" "libretro_path" is a directory, using this for "libretro_directory" instead ". The top screen shows a menu giving me the following options: Start Core, Load Content Load Recent Settings, Information, Restart RetroArch, Load Configuration, Save Current Config, Save New Config, Help, Quit RetroArch. Nothing happens when I select Start Core. Retroarch freezes when I select Load Content. I have some PS1 roms in the .bin format. I've tried lots of things, and nothing has worked for me. I really want to be able to play my PS1 games on the old 3ds xl, but nothing is working. Can anyone please help me?
