On an untouched 3DS that has been updated to 10.4, is it still possible to do the browserhax long enough to get into homebrew launcher, then into the FBI/NASA thing to install legit CIAs?

no because NASA and the modified FBI rely on memchunkhax2, which was fixed in 10.4.

Thanks. Will previous installed legit CIAs on 10.3 survive an update to 10.4?
they should since they're "legit CIAs" and show up without any CFW
well then i guess nintendo broke the law with the wii then by removing hacked save files
this is a really late response (yesterday) but I don't think this is actually illegal since you're modifying files the system uses during normal use. it would be illegal to start deleting files outside of that though.

but there is always ways around stuff like that, i.e nintendo decide in 10.5 that they suddenly feel like making a file called boot.3dsx on the root of the SD.....if there happens to be a "corrupt version" already there well they can delete it, i think they could probably just get away with it as "SD maintenance to remove files that may cause issues during normal operation" while EULA's don't supersede law, being notified something will be deleted before they do it is probably skirting on the right side of the law even if it is dickish

but its all silly anyway they would be better off just focusing on blocking actual exploits rather than doing dick moves that ultimately are sidestepped easily

It's possible to update without wanting?
I say, i turn on my 3ds and left it in sleep mode, he will "auto-download" the 10.4?

The message to update will start to appear now? Because he didn't appears when i'm in sysNAND (9.2 to 10.3)

There is anyway to block any attempt or message to upgrade?

The 3DS doesn't auto update, no. It will automatically download the updates, but it will then nag you once a day (or is it more often? I forget) to press A to begin the update, or B to do it later. If you're using the TubeHax DNS (or a proxy, or something else that blocks Nintendo update servers), then you should never get those messages.

Thanks for the answer!

Did you have any instruction to how i do this TubeHax thing ?
I used the search of the forum , but found a lot of topics and none of it seems to be a tutorial or something like this .

There's not really a tutorial needed, but I took this off Smea's site:

  1. On your 3DS, open the System Settings app, then go to Internet Settings and Connection Settings. From there, select your favorite Connection, tap the Change Settings button, and on the second page head over to the DNS section. Once there, select "No" for "Auto-obtain DNS", and under Detailed Setup, enter the following address : 107.211.140.065.
If you use your 3DS in another language, then you'll have to figure out what those buttons are called in that language, of course.

I'm more surprised it took them this long to release 10.4. Sony would have probably fixed it the next day, and probably sued Smea, and everyone who made the firmware downgrader, just to fuck with them and scare them off.

Got a n3ds 9.2 with gateway 10.3 emunand coldboot set up.

And a 2ds rxtools 9.2 emunand 10.3 coldboot set up.

From what i read Multirom Menü gets broke on Gateway and rxtools is fine to upgrade.

But what i did Not read is if coldbooting still normaly works when update to 10.4, can someone help me out?

Your emuNAND version doesn't affect coldbooting (or MSET, or browserhax, in other words, how you actually boot the CFW) at all, unless you accidentally updated sysNAND, in which case you've got bigger problems. :P

The only thing that isn't safe right now is updating RxTools N3DS 9.5. All of the other CFWs can go to 10.4 safely (including RxTools O3DS), but Gateway loses the multirom menu, as you mentioned.

Nintendo wouldn't do that because the file could just be renamed.

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.

Hope you've had a good morning.

It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
