Nope, it just hangs on dual white screens. It never gets to the Nintendo logo or anything.

I think it used RAM "cheats" or something to get it working. It'd probably be a bit tricky to apply it to a ROM (we'd have to figure out what address in ROM to patch basically).
Ok was jw.

Chances are no$GBA does the same thing the AP Patch does but in memory anyway. The AP thing only affects leveling from what I remember, not actually starting the rom. I could be wrong, but I thought that's the only thing it affected anyways.

While I'm testing "exotic" DS games, I'll give WarioWare D.I.Y. a try too (it uses a gigantic 32MB save, so we'll see if Nintendo bothered emulating it).

Edit: Nope. Once you hit reset, any progress you made is gone, so they don't emulate the huge save file. But you could probably get by alright by simply using the restore point feature.

Edit 2: I purchased Kirby on the eShop, will try that to see if there are any compatibility differences with Pokémon/WarioWare (doubt it). Interestingly, the RPX file is over 100KB -larger- than the RPX I was using before, so maybe this has a lot more being emulated? Who knows. Going to test soon.

Edit 3: Holy crap, Kirby looks like it has the screen folding emulation added. In the configuration_cafe.json file, I found this:

Code:
        "arguments": {
            "fold_on_pause": false,
            "fold_on_resume_fade_from_black_duration": 1000,
            "fold_on_pause_timeout": 3000
        }

If you have luck with Jet Force Gemini let me know. I displays a couple messed up sprites on Sin, but still no luck. I really miss this game, and I don't really like it in an emulator, idk why.

Anyone tried Buck Bumble yet?

just tryed buck bumble and seems to work fine with some config stuff changed, check the n64 compat list for the ini.

Good news, with Kirby's RPX, Hotel Dusk 215 is now playable (you can investigate objects). Clearly Nintendo's DS emulator is progressing as time goes on.

Seeing this makes me think that it'd be nice to have a place where we can have the base files for the latest decryption of the DS/N64 games that have specific .ini or configuration files up to the latest game released, since they seem to be updating the emulator. Only thing would be to specify the game from which the base files were grabbed from to make it some sort of DS Emu VXX.

That would make testing games easier.
Sadly I don't think GBATemp permits this. :P

Probably the closest we could get is sharing ini/configuration_cafe.json files and keeping a wiki of DS compatibility, making notes of which base games were used. Copyrighted stuff would have to be shared on other sites.

Maybe some sort of ISO site like that for 3DS but for Wii U? :P
Who knows. :rolleyes:

Hotel Dusk's sequel, Last Window: The Secret of Cape West, seems to run even better than its predecessor. Zero graphical glitches so far, using Kirby's RPX.

Have you tried booting up some games with the rendering set up to 2 and seeing if they perform better or don't jack up?

Have any suggested games that might look nicer with it?
Ermmmm... all of them? XD
Super Mario 64 DS and Mario Kart DS are good contenders.

The original filter for the DS looks awful and pixelated in HD TVs, so ANY DS game with 3D models rendered with that filter will sure get a massive lift up.

well the N64 emulator has a SVN number that shows on the debug menu so it should be easy to track builds, as for NDS there appears to be a build date in the decompressed rpx well atleast with the braintraining VC there is

Pro tip: Don't use a RenderScale higher than 2. It crashes the Wii U with a DSI exception. <_<;

Mario Kart DS actually looks really nice with RenderScale 2; doesn't seem to glitch out, but the cost is the game runs significantly slower than it did before (that and the Wii U hangs when quitting the game). Ignore that, the slowdown came from the pixel art setting, forgot I had it turned on.

Here's a shot of Mario Kart at RenderScale 2:

Another at RenderScale 1 (aka normal/default):

Sorry for jpg, but it's the only thing the Wii U seems to output.

Overall I'd say the scaling isn't worth it since you have to reboot the console every time you're done. It looks nice, but the trade-off isn't worth it; stability is more important to me than how the game looks. Hopefully they'll eventually perfect the renderscale so it doesn't hang.

Awesome. :)
The test was done with Kirby VC right?

The reboot doesn't bother me, so I might give this a try later.
Thanks for the test and feedback!

well i would say the renderscale option is good for 3D games, but anything with minimal 3D features it not really worth it as it makes pretty much zero difference, but for 3D heavy games for me it make them much more playable on the TV, standard scaling looked like s#1t lol

oh and yeah only games you would want to play for a reasonable amount of time, if its a 2 minute game having to reset after playing would be a bit of a turn off, but if you press the power button instead facing the system hanging

Yeah, that's the one I've been doing all of my testing with today.

Unrelated edit: Regarding NES, Mega Man 6 is probably one of the best candidates on the US eShop for injections, because the game is 512KB of PRG (plus who knows how much CHR), but it has one downfall, it was released a year ago, so the newer emulators might have better compatibility (less glitches or support for more mappers). It'd be nice if we could inject bigger ROMs for NES..

Unrelated edit 2: Hm, Earthbound Beginnings might also be a good choice, the English prototype game is 512KB also (making a shot in the dark guess that they just reused the prototype ROM for it), and it was released in June..
