In the middle of building a PC for my sons xmas pressie , nothing spectacular just an entry level system .
im having trobles with win10 and install nvidia drivers. From a cold system i install win10 and all functions fine , until i try and install gtx650 drivers . the system goes mental , and black screens all over the place , im looking really for advice and or solution / people with similar issues to assist , currently ive a system with a corrupt (due to video drivers) OS, of win10.
i have a win 7 OS im thinking of installing in the hope of a solution . but prior to this i wonder if anyone has solutions to the win10/nvidia issue ?

fingers crossed.

My problem was that I had to make sure I don't install graphics drivers before upgrading to Windows 10, because that really messed things up. On a clean install? It should've worked. How do you try and install the drivers? I have GTX 980TI, and I use their GeForce Experience program, and get the drivers from there. Black screens, is it your monitor? Whenever I update, the resolution has to be customized, then set to default in order to make it all fit, and I think it's my old monitor to blame.

my problem seemed to lie initially with windows 10 trying to do its own thing with a driver , regardless of what i was trying , i used the experience program , and while it was in the middle of upgrading my drivers , i guess it binned the generic windows driver and tried to install nvidias at this point windows detected a driver needed installing and it kept prompting me to restart. so when i restarted after the nvidia driver was done , it defaulted to the windows one.. i lthen let windows do its thing and retried with nvidia , only for the same thing to happen ...

i went to device manager and uninstalled the driver. and my system just locked up on a black screen . reading several dorums seems theres lots of issues with win10 and nvidia drivers... im at a loss really. maybe try an older driver .. i dunno.......

edit : typos everywhere.... red wines to blame

GTX 970 here and no issues with windows 10 so far regarding drivers. Have you tried getting the latest download versions from the nvidia website? At least they should work in general and you would have a non-internet installed?

Also you checked the case with other displays or cables? You never know..

why dont you roll back the past drivers and get a test software and check for errors, for if its the hardware; if not beg nvidia for a fix ....

Install CLEAN Windows 10 with no Internet connection > Get on desktop (still with no connection) > My Computer>Right Click>Properties>Advanced System Settings>Hardware-Device Installation Settings>Choose No> Connect to Internet> Download Nvidia drivers from Nvidia site>Install
