No, it's not. You can't properly install AGB_FIRM or TWL_FIRM with Gateway. You need devmode.

Then I must be using black magic because this is what I do on my New 3DS

You can use Mini pasta in hbl 2.5 its the same thing

Alright, so Minipasta worked, booted up nicely, I went and deleted the title again, replaced it, and tested my game, and it works! But, then I close out, and try using Gateway Sysnand mode to run it, black screen. I try going into rxTools sysnand to run it, black screen! rxTools emunand, black screen!!! Hmmm........

Edit: So my assumption here is that Minipasta only works because its already patching AGB_Firm on the fly. Which means the AGB_Firm title that I install NAND isn't working, for some reason?

Maybe. Are you sure you're installing a patched version? Did you patch it yourself?
Also... are you sure you're patching and installing the correct one? They're different between o3ds and n3ds. I really can't troubleshoot because I don't have any injected ones and I legitimately own the real ones (they will work in sysnand no matter what).

Yeah, I patched it myself, used 3DNUS to download, and the program for N3DS to patch. I might try the whole process over again to see if it does anything different.

I've got en error when launching my first. I don't know if it's due to the rom or to my set up.

I tried this on emuNand. This might be working only on sysnand ?
Also my rom was a patched/translated rom of Fire Emble 6

Please i need help

i didn't do the right in the first try but now i think i'm ok.

So i patched the AGB_FIRM Cia myself using the patcher available here. I finally was able to install it on sysNand using FBI (my previous installer wasn't able to chose destination).

But when i install my GBA game CIA on Synand it does not show in the menu. Also it seems like a new black icon appears on the emunand menu

i can't remove it because i don't know what it is and it's not in the data parameters too.

So how do i install the GBA CIA to sysnand ?

EDIT : the black icon disapeared with magic
what i did :
- trying to re-install my CIA gba on sysnand : failed because it aleady exist

- booting rxTools menu (with L)
- booting sysNand rxTools. I had to press R in order to bypass my cold boot menu. I think I was redirected to emuNand (because it was the emuNand theme). But this time, no black icon. (note, i just mingled X and Y so i was on emuNand because i launched emuNand -__- poor me)

Now i'm currently trying to reinstall the CIA on sysnand and it does not say that it already exists
Crap i'm totally lost here.
Edit 2 : black icon is back :hateit:

Using emuNand rxToold + fbi, if i install my CIA gba on NAND, it doesn't do anything but put a crap black icon on emunand instead.

Edit 3 : the black icon seems like to disapear by itself after some multiple reboot and random actions. Well, i won't touch this anymore.
Just waiting for help. How do i install this Cia gba game on my sysNand.

Old 3DS, Sysnand 9.2, emuNand 10.3, Gatewat 3.5.1, rxTools (i don't know the version)

So to get this straight-
After installing the AGB firmware, one has to install the gonverted gba game .cia on both--the emunand and the sysnand in order to run the game from the emunand?

I have unlinked nands- sysnand 9.2 and emunand 10.3

I just can't get this to work

I got the solution

input: o3ds 4.5.0-0e emunand 10.3 rxtools 2.6

all you need to do is: 1 install fbi in sysnand and 2 install from it patched 0004013800000202.cia to sysnand

1 load rxt menu by holding R
1-1 other option install fbi press A and press X to sysnand
1-2 after error, lookup the version fbi needed, and copy it to SD (and patched 0004013800000202.cia)
1-3 repeat and complete install to sysnand
1-4 from rxt top menu choose to launch rx in sysnand

2 under sysnand start H&S to load fbi
2-1 install patched 0004013800000202.cia in to nand (if exist replace)

thats all
start you emunand and install gba.cia like all others cia games to SD.

I just did this on my 3DS and it didn't work. I use rxTools 3.0 10-02 or 10-24 though, this might be why.
And I also installed the patched 0004013800000202.cia to both sysNAND and emuNAND, still no luck.

Hi guy. Thanks to player347 i was able to make this working within this configuration :

o3DS sysNand 9.2, emuNand 10.3, rxTools (unknown version, but it's the version from this thread : https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-installing-rxtools-custom-firmware-3ds-and-2ds.390867/)
I also have a Gateway, i don't know if it's related to this.

basically my problem was that FBI running on emuNand didn't want to install any CIA gba games on my sysNand, even by using the L button to chose the destination.

I had to inject FBI into sysNand using rxTools features.

So, i was finally able to launch cia gba game, using rxTools booting my sysNand.
Tales of Phantasia : working
Fire Emblem 6 FR rom patched : working

About the saves, i tested only Fire Emblem and it worked fine.

By the way, launching gba cia seems to take some time

Last thing : Player347 has linked Nand and Sysnand, so that's probably why he can run those gba games on emuNand by installing the AGB_FIRM on sysNand.

When you run fbi in emunand and select install to nand its install to emunand!
Whats why you need to run fbi in sysnand! only then you can install patched cia to sysnand!

II can install gba CIA on SD while running emunand.
It works and add icon on menu but the game won't launch.

About installing AGB_FIRM, fbi would say an error unless i'm on FBI emunand targeting the Nand.

About my FBI, i can target Nand or SD but it doesn't say if it's Sys or Emu.

I just tried to install gba cia game on emuNand to SD destination and it works.

In order to make a gba cia game working on emuNand, it has to be installed on sysNand and emuNand.
Strange thing, but that's it.

Also by testing it, i can tell that that both installed games share the same save. (tested only with FE6)

(my previous post was about installing gba cia game on emuNand without having installed it on sysNand previously)
