Hi a little help please.....

Ive bought a gateway card for my kids and i bought a 3ds xl second hand that came on firmware 6.2 or something alike. I managed to get the internet exploit installed fine using Ultra 3.5.1 and got it to boot into gateway mode once. Since then it will not boot. Pressing A does nothing on 'Launch Gateway Mode'

I've since downgraded to 4.5, installed the blue card exploit and the exact same, pressing A on 'Launch gateway mode does nothing. The red card passes all the diagnostic tests but Gateway mode or even classic mode just wont boot. I press A and it does nothing, ive tried holding R and updating the card, tried holding L.

Please help :-(

You're EmuNand is bricked. Boot the Gateway menu, hold L, format EmuNand partition, restart system, boot EmuNand. Tell me if that works.

Im afraid not, i've also tried a sytem restore and completley formatted the sd card uing a partition manager to delete the emunand partition and fully format the whole sd card back to original size to start again, to no avail.

Any other ideas? At best iv had a black screen when pressing 'boot gateway mode'.... now nothing again, after pressing A i can move around the menu freely.

no. every 3.x version are gw ultra. you only need to upgrade on every major version update 1.x > 2 (omega) > 3 (ultra). also i don't think you can downgrade gw redcart.

Just remove the .dat file and place it with the 3.4 file. It does work

Ive tried everything youve suggested and still the same problem.

Basically the only firmware that works properly is Omega 2.7

Ive had 3.3 working a couple of times and 3.5.1. After installing the exploit on both they just wont boot past gateway mode into the Multirom menu, whether that be sysnand or emunand. On Omega 2.7 i do the normal scenario ds exploit, it loads the gateway menu, i press A on 'load gateway mode' and it loads every time into the multirom menu. On the Ultra firmwares it just wont load no matter what i try. The card passes all the diagnostic tests. All the basics have been exhausted, ive tried all the obvious things......It's really annoying me now lol!!!

I've update the red card many times, when you switch between the Omega and Ultra firmwares it forces you too anyway. I've just ordered a new class 10 Sd card off ebay, the one i have inside now is only class 4, could this be the problem?

I really cant tell just like that, but you should try it, am using a class 10 sandisk and works without a problem so i think that it will work

I just upgraded my mSD to a 128gb on my O3DSXL which was running fine on 3.4.1 on my 64gb. I formatted 128 into fat32 and I just copied all files from old 64 to my new 128.

The good news is that sysNAND works just fine. But when I boot up GW menu it crashes back to sysNAND.

My advice is to make sure you copy the mSD to a PC before formatting it. First format it to NTFS then use EaseUs Partition Master to fat32 it. Or just use Windows. It important to go NTFS then back to FAT32. It forces the MBR to reset on the mSD. So if it was in exFAT and you formatted to FAT32, it might not fully rebuild the MBR.

As for me... I may need to backup and reformat from GW menu and start over...

Hope this helps.

This whole "original" mSD card thing is just bull. It's about learning to properly format drives.

And of course backup, backup, backup.

In case it bricks, get EaseUS PM and see if it reads the mSD as a " (floppy disk) ". If so, NTFS then FAT32. Sometimes you'll need EaseUS to force a NTFS or FAT32 format to " revive" the mSD. It's the MBR of the mSD that causes this. It happened a lot with sky3ds formatting as well. The MBR just needs to break FAT format.

And stop telling people that they can only use originals. There is no such thing unless they bought a piece of cardboard painted to look like an SD card.

There are definitely such things as fake SD cards. They say they are 32GB for example, then actually only have about 8 and trick your computer into seeing 32. Then any excess over 8 gets stored on your computer's hard drive. Leading to corrupt files. It is the main reason people see white squares on their Gateway game select menu.

I've never had that problem and I use non-brandname SD's. Where are you finding these cheap ripoffs? Just go to newegg or amazon. Most 32gb are $10 right now... You'll be fine. Stop buying knockoffs on eBay. You're wasting time and money. eBay is only good if you need old parts or are really desperate. And nobody should ever be that desperate. Ever.

Didn't you just say earlier there was no such thing as a fake? And now you're saying to avoid buying on ebay so you don't get fakes? Lol.

Also it is possible to get fakes from Amazon if you buy from an Amazon reseller instead of actually directly from Amazon
