Hacking Help for a newbie

Sorry, I'm kinda late to the party, but @Xalyy here's a few tips:
- if you want to get a 3DS from a store and it's in stock, I'd say your chances of getting one of a lower firmware are high, as nobody buys these handhelds around here, but it's still a gamble.
- don't buy one "from a guy" if you can't meet and check the 3DS before you purchase it, but if you can and find one 9.2 or lower, I'd say even slightly used and <=9.2 it's better than new, sealed and 9.3+.
- if you're looking for a flashcard, there's a guy selling both Gateway and Sky3DS on the romanian version of Craigslist, prices are fair and shipping should be cheaper & faster (free if you're from Bucharest), I got a Gateway from him and it works just fine.

Also, if you need help setting up CFW / dumping a private header I'll gladly help you, just send me a PM.

Yeah I am asked a few shops but some of them didn't even replied and one of them have too much work to look one by one so does anybody have an idea how to check firmware number faster rather then going through their stock one by one? (I mean the model numbers should be on their database... But it looks like a not so proffessional webshop)

That's correct, you don't need a card to play 3DS backups with CFW. However, you still need one for original DS backups, which is why I have the card (it's a cheap R4i, $18). It's not mandatory.

Okay guys today it arrived with QEH1034 but its 9.4... It was bought in a real shop thou. So what is my option only sky3ds? Thanks.
Also its really really new to me this system how to check if there is in a microsd or not, how to set the auto screen brightness?
Also does it matter if I use a phone charger with a DS cable? It should work without a problem right?

For 3DS games except FEif, ACHHD, yes. For homebrew, not.

You could try returning it, invoking something like "The eShop isn't available and I can't buy digital games" (it actually isn't available if you set your country to Romania) and try a different store.

FEif, ACHHD I dont know what is this. So every 3DS game, DS and even the virtual console ones?
So when I first booted up and checked it was 9.4 is it possible it already updated itself during first start?
Looks like the list is not that accurate because some people got the same model recently and got 9.4 on it too.
Nevertheless I already updated it as you guys said, that there is no other way to get back to 9.2 so only option is sky3ds.
I used it a few hours and I really like it already

have to understand and remember alot of things since its new but it shouldnt be hard.

I think I just stick with the sky3ds I already ordered one, not really want to complicate this anymore.
Its totally new console with 2 year warranty and was really cheap like 120$ so worth it.
(They even have for like 500 lei of course not the XL or not the New one.

So now my question is after I got the Sky3ds, tomorrow I getting an sd card for the sky3ds I think I buy a 64gb one and a charger. Should I buy another SD card for internal storage also? Idk 4gb is how much for the system should I upgrade?

Sky3DS cannot play some of the more recent games, and won't be able to play any game that comes out in the future (with some very few exceptions, but every game should start having AP in the not so distant future so don't count on being able to play any newer game releases.)

It cannot play regular DS games, and it can't play VC games. It can't play digital-only games either.

What really...???? If I would knew this then probably just buy only a guaranteed 9.2 and stick with cfw
What are my other options then?
I thought the sky3ds option is going to be almost the same as going with cfw but nobody pointed out that going with modded carts rather then cfw is very limited.

PS. Am I correct that these R4i carts can play DS,GBA/SNES/NES emulators? Because if yes then atleast this is still an option :rolleyes:
