Hi,

I would like to switch from a n3ds XL to a regular n3ds. Is it possibile to transfer over my Emunand from my n3ds XL over to the n3ds? After that I just would like to use the n3ds with the Nintendo Operating System to enter Gateway Mode. Would be really nice if somebody could help me.

Things I have:

n3ds XL - NAND 9.0 - Emunand 9.5 with NNID
n3ds - NAND 9.0 - Emunand 9.0 no NNID
Zelda Ocarina of Time with Gateway Savegame
Gateway Blue and Red Cards.

Yes, it's possible. I can't help you however since I don't have experience with N3DS.

You would have to update N3DS emunand from 9.0 to 9.5 too as well.
Then you would need to install FreeMultiPatcher on both and run it in order to spoof the firmware.
And then you would be able to system transfer normally I think.

But as I said, someone else will need to provide more accurate steps for you.
Maybe @Ronhero can help.

Have a look in the tutorials section, Ronhero made a guide for emuNAND to emuNAND transfers. It has been commented on recently so should be on the first page.

Basically all you have to do is install freemultipatcher on both and run it, then do a system transfer as normal. If it gets stuck (trying to finish the transfer then exiting with an error), disable wifi before entering emuNAND again, cancel the transfer, sign into the eShop and it will all finish.

Edit: you might have to downgrade the 9.5 emuNAND to 9.0-9.2 but the steps for that are in the tutorial. (Either both consoles had to be 9.0-9.2 or both consoles had to be 9.0-9.5 I don't remember which)

I saw that tutorial, but I thought my case is a little different, as it says, that both devices have to have entered the eshop at least once to perform the Transfer.

Is it possible to enter the eshop after installing freemultipatcher or how am I supposed to do that?

Also, do the two Emunands have to be on exactly the same Softwareversion, in my case 9.5 or will it work too if the n3ds XL emunand is 9.5 and the n3ds is 9.0?

I ignored that part (can't access the eShop if not on latest firmware) and it didn't make any difference - except maybe it was the source of the problem I had with it getting stuck.

that's great! Thanks!

Do you know if the two emunands have to be on exactly the same version?

After checking @Ronhero's tutorial better, I think you don't actually need to do anything to any of your console's emunands. They just need to be between 9.0-9.5 to be compatible and so you have one emunand in 9.0 and another in 9.5 so it's fine. You just need to run FreeMultiPatcher so that the console thinks it's updated and let's you do the system transfer.

I had people fail tp transfer without accessing eshop first. It takes 2 seconds you just nees to load fmp and log in once. I think it has something to do with the transfer structure

The problem is, before following the tutorial I had no idea what freemultipatcher was, and in the middle of the tutorial I was focussed on getting each step right. Maybe in your tutorial you should say just after installing freemultipatcher and before starting the transfer, to access the eShop if not done previously.

If Ironfall's on N3DS 9.9, is there a way to system transfer to <=9.2 N3DS? Then make EMUNAND and update to 9.5 so legit IronFall can work on EMUNAND (use modded themehax that make it like permanent-CFW so SYSNAND is unused/bypassed most of the time).

The main point is to save legit Ironfall copy on a <=9.2 system in case there is an kernel exploit (hopefully) for >9.2 in the future.

thanks all for your help! one last question, before attempting the update. When I update the Emunand from 9.0 to 9.5 with a CIA, do I have to press up wenn launching the gateway mode?
