MGS V for PC comes with empty DVD disc

If you bought the newest iteration of the Metal Gear Solid series to play on your computer, you might have been surprised to notice that the DVD disc that was in the box did not actually contain any game files. All it contains is an installation binary for Steam, allowing you to download the game in full from the Internet (~30 GB).

What do you think about this? Should the game have been sold as Blu-ray? Or perhaps multiple DVDs?

I thought you were older. Anyway, you can't call people cheap when you don't pay for much of anything.

$30 may not seem like much to you, but not everyone has a spare $30.

Or like when someone such as me was forced to move back home due to severe economic disrepair and only recently got back on his feet. Who does he think he is?

I'm talking average here.

The average Joe makes enough a month to be able to pay 30$ a month, ofc there will be people who can't; but that's the minority. Honestly there might be bigger things to worry about if you can't spend 30$ on internet a month but are able to spend 50$ on a game :/

$50 on a game AND $30 a month. Besides, where I live, it's more like $70 a month.

Anyway, this is all beside the point. It cost them the same amount of money to send a near blank disc. It was more of a "f*ck you" move.

Again, if you can't spend 30$ a month on something so important in this modern age as Internet, then maybe you shouldn't be buying games for 50$ (or you know, at all).

I don't have the best economy (duh), but I prioritize important things before non important things. That's why I currently spend a lot of money on suits for example, that's the only way to get accepted and actually get people to listen to you. Or another example instead of getting a gaming console I got a few really good books to help me understand the market a lot more.

Now, ofc, I'm quite a forward driven and doesn't really care about getting enjoyment out of things as long as I make a profit. You might need to enjoy things, then getting a game now and then is a good thing (providing it brings good to your life and not takes up all your time).

Also all of this is just based on the middle & low class in Sweden. :)

P.S. sorry if I came out assholish never intended to :/

the point is the pointless disk, if they want to go all digital then just do it, dont pretend to have a physical release.....you can argue how "digital distibution is the way forward".....but i think its more than obvious that some people/regions aren't quite ready for that (sure some people are, but thats like me saying I can run 10 miles so everyone must be able to", its stupid to go to the efforts of producing and distributing a digital only item, pretty much every benefit of going "digital-only" is saving money on shipping, manufacturing, packaging design, sharing revenue with distributors/retailers etc etc.......all of which is defeated when you do all that anyway, basically this move benefited nobody at all

It was either this, put the game on a bunch of dvds, or be the first pc game ever (I think) to require a bluray drive.

Oh by the way, with the kind of internet available in most places for $30/mo, it would take about 6 months to download the game due to low speeds and outdated bandwidth caps.
